Re: W530 boot order in BIOS? (SOLVED!)

"I did this : Start computer > Press F1 > Thinkpad Setup > Startup > Boot)" Yes, but that menu does not appear to be present in the current W530 BIOS. Nor will pressing F12 show any itemized list of devices to choose from. (Later) I take that back. YESTERDAY, F12 just gave me one of the other boot m...

Re: W530 boot order in BIOS?

It is set to "enabled" but there don't seem to be any options for boot sequence (USB, CD, hard drive) anywhere else. The USB stick was formatted as a DOS bootable "disk" with Rufus, which seems to get nothing but praise, so I expect it is a bootable stick. But there's no suggestion it isn't, or any ...

W530 boot order in BIOS?

I'm running Win7/64 and the latest system BIOS, and looking for a way to tell the system to boot from a USB memory stick. But all I see in the BIOS options are a choice of UEFI/legacy devices, and a mention that the boot order might only be accessible if I enter setup in supervisor mode? There is no...

You've confirmed why I call them LeNoNo. I searched for W530 with Win7 OS, and got no hits on "Roxio" in any manner. Searched several ways, several times. The page you found happens to say: FROM THE README FILE: Roxio Creator Small Business Edition for Microsoft Windows XP and Vista [note, wrong OS]...

In any case, I'd like to restore full function to the software. That appears to mean reinstalling it since there are no upgrades or patches that I can find. Except, there's also no "Roxio" file in the SWTOOLS directory, which is where all the preload stuff is supposed to be backed up. Isn't it? Roxi...

In the Roxio software there were two options for mp3. One was to burn the files as a "jukebox" disc, the other as a data disc. I don't know the difference except that the "jukebox" format allowed for more files (tracks) to be burned. Whatever that is, it isn't a plain data disc, is it?

I haven't burned a CD in a year, so I've pretty much forgotten which software I was using to do that, but I think this was it. And that it came bundled with the computer. Re: W520 requires 170W AC adapter

I can't swear how Lenono does it, but the resistor is usually installed "in" the plug, or at the point where the cord enters it. USB devices all use the same logic, with a drop-down resistor added into the plug to signal different types of cables. And resistor values chosen by the device maker, not ...

Re: W520 requires 170W AC adapter

If you mean the correct able with the drop-down resistor in the end fitting? AFAIK that's only sold integral to the power supply. It does not unplug. So unless there's some oddball source for these, you'd have to buy a standard plug and add the resistor yourself. Or lop one off of an older power sup...

Re: W530, X-Rite Color Calibrator software bugs?

I don't think the recalibration is necessary, or that the screen is altering color on me. It is just that the "timer" in the calibration app is BROKEN. I say four weeks, it goes off every one week. That's the kind of nuisance I'd expect in a no-name piece of junk, not something branded by X-Rite, li...

Re: Mobile Broadband setup

You mean, which are the MiFi gizmos?

Check with your carrier first, since they know what works from them. Then if you've got a local BestBuy or cell store, see what they've got in stock. Unless you need gobs of data, one that is only 3G or 4G is fast enough for one casual user.

When I run the X-Rite/Pantone color calibrator app, I tell it to come back and nag me in ONE MONTH, FOUR WEEKS. But no matter how I do that, it comes back to nag me in ONE WEEK. Someone can't count. With an SSD as the primary drive, the system comes up from sleep mode in maybe 4 or 5 seconds, incredibly fast. Yes, it showed as running on AC not battery. "but it will discharge the battery while connected to that 90W adapter."
