Re: T60 2007 fan lubrication instructions?

I would use mineral oil. They are the general purpose lubricant. They may be sold as machine oil or gear oil. Conventional motor oil is also based mineral oil but it has many additives to protect the engine. WD-40 or other spray lubricants are too thin to suspend the axle in a sleeve bearing. Most o...

Re: T60 2007 fan lubrication instructions?

From my inspection of the device, the aluminum tape holds the copper and aluminum parts together around the heat sink fins. When installed, the aluminum is nestled tightly in the corner so I doubt it will come apart. I elected to cut the tape versus peeling it because I think I would do less damage ...

Re: T60 2007 fan lubrication instructions?

I lubricated my T60's fan bearing almost 4 months ago and it's still perfectly silent even after taking it with me on international trips. The percentage of success depends on how good you are working with delicate items. I took pics and wrote up about it: http://www.msb0b.com/home/thinkpadt60fanrep...

On my heat sink fan assembly, there was a small round green sticker with the P/N and FRU numbers.

I don't know what's the difference, but on the Lenovo/IBM FRU ordering site wants $41.25 for 41V9932 and $80.16 for 41W6407.

Re: Unbearably Noisy Fan

41V9931 and 41W6406 are for Intel integrated graphics. 41V9932 and 41W6407 are for discrete ATI graphics. You should choose one base on your system configuration. If you are careful and have steady hands, you can lubricate the fan bearing yourself. I did it to my T60 2 months ago, and it has been pr...

The lone button on the receiver and the recessed button on the bottom of the mouse are the connect buttons. When both buttons are pressed simultaneously, the mouse and receiver seek out each other and negotiate a new scrambling code. Newer cordless mice and keyboards are better at maintaining connec...

Re: usb wireless mouse. Pointer wont move, no response

If there is a "Connect" button on the mouse and receiver, press both of them at the same time. Try to keep the receiver on the same side as you use your mouse.

You can certainly use TrackPoint, touch pad and the external mouse all at the same time. There is no need to disable it in the BIOS.

Re: Networking Name Resolution Issue

Try restart the router and have each client computers renew the DHCP lease.

If that doesn't work, reset the router to factory default and reconfigure.

You may also want to check if this is a known issue, and if it is addressed in a newer version of firmware.
