Re: Ok.

I know what you're thinking :) - but you'd be overlooking that the i845MP chipset isn't the same as the i845D. The i845MP is a mobile chipset. The i845D is for a desktop. The reason it has the same ICH is because the 845 family's hallmark is the IO Controller Hub and Memory Controller Hub (ICH and ...

Re: In short no.

The answer is no. The most of the models of Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz use a different FSB bus speed at least. 400 mhz vs 533 mhz. I also don't believe that it uses the same form factor. The Pentium 4-m 2.6 ghz is about all the horse power you're going to get on the a31p. The G series uses a Pentium 4 deskt...

I am currently using P4 M 2.5. I was just thinking to get 2.8 one. One store near my place has it for sale. However, I can't test on it. Once I buy it then I can't return it.

That's why I ask if I could use the desktop one. It will be faster using 2.8 desktop one...

Would it be possible to have Desktop Processor P4 on my A31p

I was wondering if I could change the processor to a desktop one.

I am thinking to get the P4 2.6 one.

Is it possible?

I see that it has different core voltage. The mobile one is 1.3 and the desktop one is 1.5.

maybe others have tried it before?

thank you

Do I need any modification to have Nec 6500 DVD RW installed

I am thinking of getting one of those DVD RW dual layer drive. However, I am not sure if this will fit or not.

If this one fit, do I need to have any modification on the front bezel or not? is it a straight forward kind of installation without modifying anything?

Re: One thing you might try is:

Boot up again and press F1 to enter BIOS and then F9 to reset the BIOS to defaults - then F10 to save and exit. I did that, still no luck. I have sytle xp installed, after uninstall it, I lost the Blue screen but it still doesn't want to go to the BIOS update, finally I got it to work by using the ...

I think I read elsewhere that the A31p can take 2 x 1 GB memory sticks. Are there any changes needed to BIOS or O/S when increasing RAM?, or is it simply a matter of inserting the new memory chips? No "hacking" involved, just need to have an up to date BIOS. Can you recommend a reputable source for...

my a31p doesn't do that. But you might try checking to see if the case screws are tight. the screws are tight. I suspect there's something wrong with the case. However, I just want to make sure that I am the only one that is having the problem. with that, I can make sure the IBM tech to replace the...

All A31 Users, is your casing giving squaking noise?

I just notice that around the hand rest above the speaker, if I push a little bit downward, I hear the squaking noise. This makes the laptop like a cheap one cause it doesn't have a firm body. I went to IBM service center and they said every A31 like that. So I am asking if any of you who have A31 e...

I don't think it's a hardware faulty either. If they replace it, they will most likely replace the same motherboard. I don't think they have a newer board as they discontinue the a31p product line off their market. It's most likely the problem with the embedded controller. I don't have any problem w...

What annoys me is in BIOS setting, the vga setting is pci not agp.
