The message after the boot is "Cannot open volume for direct access". But from what I see it's a problem of many people.

Can anyone give the reason why ScanDisk won't check my hdd? the message I'm getting says that the program cannot obtain exclusive access to some files. Then it's asking me if I want him to do it upon the next restart. I choose yes and then there is another message (don't rememeber) and nothing happe...

Is there any alternative name for PATA? E.g. IDE or something? I've found some 5400 RPM PATAs but no 7200 rpm. What about this one?

This is the thing. There are two types of backup in Restore and Recovery program. Quick one, restoring only the applicationsm sysytem and the registry, leaving the rest of the files intact.
