I went ahead and ordered a vertical one for my X61 tablet, fits snugly and feels well-protected. They discouraged vertical because the 8-cell makes it almost the same size in both dimensions, but it's worked out well for me.

Add a non-tablet SXGA+ option and I'd be ecstatic.

Other than that the X61 is perfect!

Someone mentioned once it was the Atheros 5004 series, but there's no literature to confirm it anywhere.
