Re: Booting a ThinkPad w/o unlocking a PW protected harddisk?

@andyP Drive passwords are *not* meant as a prevention to boot at all by unauthed users (that's what the other BIOS password is good for). Drive passwords are meant to prevent accessing one specific drive (the one with the password) by unauthed users. Can you tell me how to remove the internal drive...

Re: Booting a ThinkPad w/o unlocking a PW protected harddisk?

I can neither enter the BIOS (F1) nor go to the boot device selection (F12) without entering the drive password.

Booting a ThinkPad w/o unlocking a PW protected harddisk?

I have set a harddisk password on the internal SSD of my T410s. Now I'd like to boot from an external harddrive (or CDROM) *without* unlocking the internal harddisk. The reason is I don't want any malware to access my main system. Problem is, I do not find any way around entering the harddisk passwo...

Perhaps that 2048 x 1536 x 75 Hz limit is actually valid for the analog (VGA) port?

I wonder if this 2048 x 1536 x 75 Hz specification has got any significance at all? Do you know one single monitor that uses 2048 x 1536 natively? Let alone 75 Hz, which seems to be a relict from the CRT age. I'm also very interested in actual DisplayPort tests. I'd like to combine an X301 and a Del...

Some X301 questions (DisplayPort/Fan/Memory)

I am very interested in the X301 and have some questions: 1) I'd like to go for 4 GB of RAM - is it possible to use 4 GB of DDR3 or will I have to "downgrade" to DDR2? (some X301 datasheets say 2 GB DDR3 or 4 GB DDR2, but I can't really believe that) 2) How audible is the fan? At idle? At full load?...
