How do I actually identify the IPS screen?
There are way too many offers out there with no mention about IPS - even if included (as I learned on enquiry). Is there any way to tell IPS by resolution or other acronyms?

High-pitched processor noise still there in Sandybridge?
The X220 appears to have made it worth to look into the purchase of a new notebook this year. Yet, telling by my fiancée's W510, the high-pitched noise is definitely an issue that I have to see resolved. Call me exaggerating or, well, still with good ears, but the noise drives me bad within a good 1...

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X220 Pictured and Leaked,,,
Get it? Notebooks are not durable goods and most customers are realizing it. Doesn't the same apply for cameras? While I definitely agree with your interpretation of that Intel law there, it doesn't mean that you could build more office-oriented notebooks and even claim a premium. We are not talkin...

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X220 Pictured and Leaked,,,
Just imagine if laptop market was like that, when the only thing you can choose when configuring a laptop are battery capacity and whether or not you need the external DVD burner. I think you missed his point: In the cam industry, manufacturers excel each other in providing the best of the best for...

Where the heck are the new Thinkpads x210?
The series is put on more discount sales than the notoriously promoted T410s while the X-series' revamp with a new keyboard, multitouch, etc. is overdue, I think. Where are the new models for this autumn? In this regard, it would be certainly interesting to know how things are going on the mainboard...

Re: Will the new Toshiba Protege spell the end for the X300?
Just two words: "isolated keyboard". Just look how small those clichet keys got! There's no way I could write anything decent with that keyboard. Thus, in order to answer your question: No, not that way - although I start to wish that they were able and don't succumb to design aspects like isolated ...

Concerns about the body-design of the T400s
With all due respect for the design of the new T400s, I want my clampshell and old keyboard with stronger feedback and a thick steel plate underneath back. Do you think that the few savings in production yuan and grams are really worth those sacrifices?

Re: Why are all the new models with lo-res screens these days?
Higher resolutions on notebooks were the worst idea I've ever come across: What's the purpose of increasing resolution when the screen size doesn't? I would already need a bloody magnifier on my T400 if Windows didn't allow me to increase font-DPI. In fact, the new option for the new continous DPI-s...

Re: When would Thinkpads phase out the 16:10 format?
Word up! Thinkpads aren't supposed to be mobile movie theaters. I start to get afraid that Lenovo will turn the brand into a consumer line after all.

When lemons actually make peaches question themselves ...
I reckon that Akerlof's awesome theory of peaches and lemons must be adapted to today's whole new level of marketing that has managed to actually make the far better question itself. In our case: Of course, the new Apple keyboard is nonsense and any author of longer articles, papers or books has lea...
