Re: The "Thinkpad"

I had an opportunity to type on a lenovo chiclet keyboard a couple of weeks ago. IIRC it was an E-series and my initial impression is that the keyboard actually felt very nice. Not dreadful at all. The keys cupped my fingers and felt responsive. The university I attend loans out Macbooks, Thinkpads,...

Re: LF: right-trackpoint button for X200 keyboard

Thanks RBS! I did see that while perusing ebay but was hoping someone here on the forums might have a non-working x200 keyboard they would not mind parting out. I think I might just order a whole keyboard- a proper NMB type sometime soon. Cheers!

Re: X230 Honesty Check

Tilt the screen back and if you have color inversion you have a TN panel. If the image is viewable instead then you have an IPS panel.

Here is a short video showing the difference. https://youtu.be/p8MO-XaCZ_8

LF: right-trackpoint button for X200 keyboard

Specifically for FRU 42T3737.

I would need the rubber dome and the button. If anyone has one they could spare I would greatly appreciate it. Name your price and we can go from there. Thanks!

Re: Still have a working, obsolete PDA? *PIC*

Used to have a Dell Axim X30 and a Dell Axim X51v. Eventually sold both of them as my needs changed. I sold the Axim X30 to my younger sister and on a recent trip to visit the family I was surprised to see that she still has it! Not sure if it is working but it was a blast from the past seeing it ag...

@dwilsonfl. It works with either finger(s) or a stylus. Please note that I will be keeping the stylus from the pictures. Replacements can be found online or perhaps here on TPF.

Re: x230 Speakers SOOO quiet

You may need to rely on headphones and/or external speakers. This is one pet peeve of mine in respect to most of the Thinkpads I have owned! The speakers in my Chromebook trump the speakers in my x220T by a mile. Two Thinkpads come to mind that had decent sound and that is a T500 and the 600X I once...

Re: Octane on a T60p? Really, really bad?

Hmmm...that is a low score. Also to confirm the c720 Chromebook (w/Celeron 2955U) Octane score I got ~11877 a couple of minutes ago on my c720. You could try running a live linux desktop environment and giving Octane a run in that environment to see if there is any significant difference compared to...

Re: The ThinkPad is Dead, Long Live..... ?

^^^ I agree and think it is not too crazy to own an on-the-side cheapie laptop. In my case my Acer Chromebook is an effective supplement to my routine as a university student. I bought mine for $129 so it was not terribly costly in respect to the budget I had at the time. I had previously done some ...

Re: T500 CPU upgrade

Nice pics! Hate to be a Debbie Downer but while you had it open it might have been a good idea to find a way to reinforce the frame near the exhaust fan on the left hand side. The frame connecting that area is very thin and has a good chance of breaking at some point in the future. If that section o...

Very nice of you to share your experience with the setup! :thumbs-UP: Before I had finalized my decision to build my desktop I had considered a similar setup. Re: ssd disk height

I am thinking that the x230 is very similar to the x220tablet in respect to the type of hard drive/SSDs it is compatible with. My x220tablet actually has two internal ports that I can boot an OS from. They are: (1) 2.5" 7mm SSD or HDD and (1) mSATA SSD. My setup is that I have left my 2.5 7mm bay em...

Re: Buying a used laptop for a friend.

Perhaps a T500 with the ATI 3650M switchable graphics and the WSXGA+ screen. I played the first half of Tombraider 2013 using the T500 by setting the in-game resolution to 1280X800. 4gb of RAM should be sufficient. A large capacity platter drive would probably be best as well >500gb as some game fil...

Re: T61P/advanced dock/Asus 6450=major problems

I wish I had a clear cut answer! A couple of months ago I had a reasonable amount of success on my T500 w/switchable graphics+dock w/HD6570. The hiccup I ran into was most likely the 2gb RAM limit. My T500 would go into a loop of power-on/power-off. I was able to bypass the loop by going into deskto...

Can you not keep the T61 and buy an additional laptop that fits your high-res and modern component cravings? There are quite a few members here (including myself) who own laptops other than Lenovo. Last time I checked you did not get penalized for owning a non-Lenovo laptop. :P My situation is that ...

Re: New X220 keyboard middle and right click difficulty

There should be no problems. If you swap back in the old keyboard and the buttons work flawlessly then the issue is most likely your replacement.
