If you seem to know it all, why ask? Because I'm not sure. If you read my first post you understand. I think its clear. But I if you have the absolute true, why you lost your time with my, a miserable mortal? Also post your mesage to thinkwiki, that they are wrong and to IBM that they don't know wh...

Re: Please help with G40/G41 CPU's

Here's where the confusion resides: not ALL boards support ALL CPUs when it comes to G4x machines AFAIK. I'm very doubtful that a G40 board that originally ran a Celeron CPU with 400Mhz FSB will do anything productive with a 533Mhz CPU. Good luck. That it's true, but the 400Mhz FSB it's for the G40...

Re: Please help with G40/G41 CPU's

Sorry but you are wrong, in thinkwiki they say that mount a Mobile Pentiun 4 at FSB533 (Presscot) http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:G41 If I can put a Mobile Pentium 4 Northwood at 3.06Ghz with Hyper-Threading (SL77P) at 533FSB and socket 478, with only 70 watts TPD vs the 89watts TPD of Presco...

Re: Please help with G40/G41 CPU's

So what are the diferrences between these machines ? only that the G41 can have a dedicated craphic card? The P4 3.0Ghz Prescott HT at FSB800 and 1MB caché don`t boot. The P4 2.4 GHz HT Northwood at FSB800 work BUT in the procedure a broke the screen connector and now I write from external monitor :...

I think that the G40 its a FSB400Mhz and the G41 is a FSB533Mhz.
I will try the diferents CPU. I hope don't damage the mobo.

G40 just received. First impressions from a A31 user.

Hi everybody! :-) Just receive my G40. Now I'm at work. The machine was very comfortable to type, A+ for ergonomy :-). It has a Celeron 2.0Ghz and run quietly and noiseless. No especial hot. The wattage is betwen 45-50 watts at normal operation (My broken A31 run at 25-30 watts) When i return home, ...

Re: g40 , g41 max cpu

If they have a 400MHz bus it should work, but I think that the P4/3.7 don't have this. Also caution about the heat that will generate. Another and easy upgrade that boost in general performance is to put a faster HDD: 7200RPM Seagate or Hitachi PATA drive and also a 2GB RAM upgrade.

Re: Need new laptop for small business

If you are on budget like me :-) You can try one A31p or T42p (15" screensize). The are cheap and easy to upgrade. The T42p is a most powerful machine (a friend of me have one with 1660x...) and you can get one around $300...
