True, and true, but it does also have a slightly larger body construction, and the v3200 and all other workstation graphic cards have procedures by which they can turn of pipelines and memory to save power, and thusly run cooler. If your playing doom 3 then it will be a lot louder, but im thinking a...

Yeah, what I've learned from dealing with IBM is that it is most effective to deal with a human. I'm going to grad school @ alabama, and I have a representative, who, represents a certain number or category of schools, I suppose. It is strange how some peoples pricing is more or less than others, I ...

Also, as we speak, my IBM guy is putting together an T43p 2687-EJU configuration for a quote. Although the custom models are a bit more expensive, this model has the 2.0 ghz rather than the 2.13. The peformance difference is slight, but the price difference is much, much steeper. Intel has always ma...

Wow, I'm mad. I got quoted the H8U for $2655, EPP. I wonder whats up with that? I'm in the last stretch in my decision as well, and I'm 90% leaning towards the 43P. I think that it is not necessarily $500 better than 42, but because of the video card, ram speed, and fast hard drive ect, I think it w...

Configurator program just released!
Wow, download this program. http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/me.nsf/webdocs-L/Configurators:USA+PC+Sales+Tool:English/$FILE/PSCFG_USBP.EXE Its the same that the us sales rep use to configure prices. If anyone can figure it out a little better than me, let us know! Its very confusing, but with my rep never ...

Steve knows that what he said a few months ago is probably no longer true because the chineese are slowing everything down. Within the next week, I expect the may edition of tabook or whatever its called now to dispell the may update hopes. I think there wont be a T44, but they will go straight to T...

Once again, all of this is specualtion based on computer trends, none of it is definate. As far as the v5000, they are indeed much more costly than a v3200. The problem is that HP has v5000 on their laptops for the same price as an ibm with a 3200, for the most part. Sure your loosing sturdiness and...

Yeah, people are waiting for the x600 in the non-p t43s, ie for support on lower res / more affordable configurations. This in turn, would mean the Ps being upgraded beyond the x600 based chips, most like with the v5000, which is an x700 based chipset, and is much faster than x600 in perfomance. Whe...

Kenn is right. The v3200 card on the 43p should be at least 25 percent faster at rendering than the firegl, based on the chipsets, memory speeds, and whatnot. The v3200 is based on the x600 chipset, and is a slightly beefed up version of it also. Out of the 4 graphics cards between the t42 and 43, t...

Good article, Pina. Thats better than most of the stuff I found. And Gib, for Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and programming, the UXGA is awesome for. You can see more on the spreadsheets and programming layouts, and the high dpi fonts on Word look really pimp, in my opinoin. For web browsing, its a...

I posted a similar question a few days ago, and so I went to the store and looked at a UXGA, and it was awesome. It sounds small, but you can read everything because it is so clear, or at least I was able to. If you use 120 dpi fonts or even the 135 (next step up) it makes the font bigger if you lik...

Well, I dont really want to use it for gaming, I guess I didnt make that clear. I want the thinkpad because it is thin, light, and durable, and its something that I can take to and from class, and it will have a good battery life. Of course I would get like a XPS2 for gaming, but I dont necessarily ...

T43p UXGA conclusions and questions
I am in the market for a new laptop, and I have tentatively decided on a T43p. Looking at some student discounted models, they are actually quite cheap it seems. My main concern has been the UXGA 1600 x 1200 resolution on the models I have looked at, but based on the posts here, I have come to some ...
