Re: Where to buy Lenovo 4-cell battery for X61?
id love a new battery for my x61s as well I have Genuine New 4-cell slim batteries for the x60 s and x61 s . (What I am temporarily out of are x60, x61 4-cell batteries). The " slim " battery fits and is specially designed for the " s " models and will not fit the x60, x61. It's actually lighter/ s...

Re: do not buy thinkpad hardware from AMZNTECH
@ gervin23 : Welcome once again to the Forum :) I checked the Amazon link you provided. There are no products currently listed in that seller's storefront. I would like to ask what was the wording in the original listing? Did they claim it was a "Genuine I.B.M.", "Genuine Lenovo", "O.E.M." or an "O...

Re: Where to buy Lenovo 4-cell battery for X61?
@ Edward Mendelson : Ah... I just got word that what I have arriving are New x60 s and x61 s 4-cell slim batteries. I assume you have an x61, not x61s, so unfortunately the slim battery wouldn't fit. Sorry :( I'm sure if you post a WTB in the Marketplace you could find a Genuine Lenovo 4-cell from ...

Re: Where to buy Lenovo 6-cell battery for X61?
If anyone has any suggestions about a reliable, relatively low-priced source for X61 6-cell batteries, I'll be very grateful. I was hoping to buy one from ThinkPad Lover on this forum, but his July 9 posting shows all his X61-compatible batteries as sold out. Thanks for any advice. Hi Edward, I hav...

Thanks to Daniel for all the information, and for selling me a new fan. It's got my machine working again! Switching it out with the old one wasn't all that hard. Not as much surgery involved as some of the other posts indicated. --->Full thread: WTB: Fan for X61s ) http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewt...

Hey guys! Yesterday my t60 just worked fine. For the night i just left it turned on, and in the morning i turned it off. About a few hours later i tried to boot it up, but it wont turn on. I saw that the external power indicator under the screen is not light. When I try to reconnect the adaptor the...

Positive feedback for FAIR Traders: Land of the Midnight sun
My T60 was running a bit hot so I decided to upgrade some. Bought a 41W6407 heatsink and Fan and a T7200 cpu from Thinkpad Lover , one of the best buying experiences I've had online in a long time. Prices were very good, communication was excellent and the parts are as described and as ordered. Rea...

Hi, what is the FRU P/N on your original R51 fan (which looks like the classic R51 fan I have in one of my R51 machines), and the FRU P/N (and any other numbers you can find) on the one they sent you? I have a large box of miscellaneous Thinkpad fans and I think I've seen something shaped like that ...

This is really poor craftsmanship. Not so. The cable length is perfect. Well actually he quoted someone: Yes I did, and that Forum Member may choose to elaborate on this point... I've "said my piece" and will "hold my peace" for now... perhaps swapping in a non-nVIDIA motherboard if that's feasible. If time permits, make a quick read of the whole thread and cross-refer...

Re: Should I send the T61 back because of the faulty gfx chip?
I don't think once the gfx fails my data will be lost, or is there a chance the storage drive dies along? As mentioned, GPU (potentially) failing and hard drive failing are 2 separate issues. But it's a good idea to back up your hard drive data on a regular basis. In the event anything goes wrong, ...

Re: Should I send the T61 back because of the faulty gfx chip?
I don't want it to die on me before I can at least get my money's worth out of it. It is already used and I do not know the intentions of the seller. So what do you think, should I send the T61 back because of the faulty gfx chip? Yes. By all means, better safe than sorry. Make full use of their re...

Re: What's the slimmest bag solution to protect my T61?
Yes, search for a "14.1" laptop sleeve case" which is a slimmed down version of a carrying case and does not have the strap, carrying handle, wheels or legs. It's also not as well padded. Perfect for putting inside of a backpack. I wouldn't trust it on its own to offer enough protection from bumps o...

Re: Has anyone recently bought an IBM certified used laptop ?
Hi. I recently acquired a W500. It arrived in excellent condition, clean, running smoothly and quietly. However, it was purchased through a 3rd party so I don't know if some additional cleaning/refurbishing took place but it did originate with I.B.M. certified used equipment as per the documentation...

No. The T61 definitely uses SATA drives, not IDE (also called PATA or ATA).TheAnyKey wrote:Can I install SATA drives? I thought the T61 uses IDE.

I suppose I have a stronger battery. It says 10.8V, 7.8AH and has a blue "Li-ion" sticker on the right side. Maybe you guys know what kind of battery that is and what kind of battery life I can expect from it. It's a used device though, so the battery life might be significantly shorter. 7.8AH= 9-c...

Hello and welcome to the Forum
What is the 7-digit type model number and 7-digit product ID on the bottom of your laptop? This info. is located to the left of the S/N (Serial Number). For example, one of my T61's says "7661-LP3".

I don't understand your dilemma. Isn't "B:" your CD-Rom drive , "A:" the floppy drive you booted up from, and "C:" your hard drive? So then type "B:" , "dir" , and then you should a list of all files on the Windows 98 CD, including "setup.exe" (if not, then "cd win98"). Then type "setup" to run Wind...

Re: Clean install. Windows 7 x64 disc?
FYI - Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008/R2 keys are not media specific. You may use any disc with any key (OEM, retail, upgrade, VL) and the software will "convert" to the version that corresponds witht the key. I can vouch for that being the case with Windows 7 OEM and retail CD's ...
