do ati firegl v5200 and/or v5250 support anti-aliasing?
is there an option for anti-aliasing with either of these cards? or, can it be forced?
just curious.
thank you.

Re: dim & yellowed screen on x61 tablet: REPLACE?
okay. so i am doing more sleuthing. a blown motherboard fuse MAY BE a possibility, based on the symptoms, which are: 1. black lcd, even after the SCREEN AND INVERTER AND LCD CABLE are replaced and tested out fine when hooked up to another system 2. laptop functions perfectly with external monitor (n...

Re: dim & yellowed screen on x61 tablet: REPLACE?

Re: dim & yellowed screen on x61 tablet: REPLACE?
i ended up sending the system in to my local repair shop for a second look. they hooked up the OLD lcd screen (the one that i was attempting to replace because it was dim and yellow) to a testing laptop (non-IBM, fitted with its own lcd cable and inverter and what-not). and, according to them, the s...

Re: dim & yellowed screen on x61 tablet: REPLACE?
UPDATE: i received the replacement lcd and the inverter. i also got a new front cover because the existing one was covered in scratches. all was going swimmingly with the replacement until, a couple hours later, it came time to power up the laptop and test the new screen. in a classically anticlimac...

experiences w/generic replacement batteries for x6 tablets?
good? bad? compatability issues? trying to save money here.
i got a system that was advertised to "hold a charge perfectly" but is in fact holding a charge at about 50% (drains twice as fast as it should). getting 2 hours on an extended life battery here.
ciao

Re: dim & yellowed screen on x61 tablet: REPLACE?
thank you both for your replies. yes, i did change the bios setting to "high brightness," and that was as bright as it got. i don't know if the inverter is on its way out too, but i will replace it just to be 100% sure, mostly because they are so inexpensive. can't hurt. hopefully, replacing the scr...

dim & yellowed screen on x61 tablet: REPLACE?
just got an x61 tablet with a screen that appears to be near the end of its life span: see here: http://m.1asphost.com/chaotico/P80100614.jpg the screen on the left is my ancient 180-nit gateway lcd. the one on the right is the thinkpad's lcd. it's a non-mv/mt xga screen, so i know it SHOULD also me...

Re: on the merits of multitouch & compromised screen brightness
i see. but from what i've been reading, the sxga screen was brighter than the mv/mt on the x60 tablet, but the opposite was true for the x61. which would mean that the mv/mt on the x61 tablet is actually dimmer . if you are referencing the thread that i think you are, then the post you quoted was fo...

on the merits of multitouch & compromised screen brightness
one last question here. i'm currently debating the merits of buying an x61 tablet with xga multiview/multitouch vs. one with a regular xga screen because i found this tidbit of disconcerting information about x61t screen options: 12.1" Super-Wide Angle FFS XGA TFT (1024x768, 195nits), 12.1" MultiVie...

possible to add/upgrade video card in x61 tablet?!? anybody?
is it seriously not possible to install a decent ati or nvidia graphics card into an x61 tablet and supplant the integrated one? like, absolutely impossible? does the x6 ultrabase allow for one? is there a such thing as an external video card i could purchase and use instead? if not, then i'll have ...

Re: does it exist: x61t multiview/multitouch & 2.2GHz processor?
i see. browsing around ebay, it looks like 2.2 GHz processors are only on non-tablet x61 systems. does that mean that only non-tablet systems can support that hardware? i take it then that x61 tablet motherboards aren't interchangable with the non-tablet ones. so, are you saying that the best i can ...

does it exist: x61t multiview/multitouch & 2.2GHz processor?
greetings; i am in the market for a new convertible laptop. a 4:3 aspect ratio is a must for me. i have settled on the x61 tablet, the last great tablet with a 4:3 screen that i have been able to find. i want my system to have multiview/multitouch functionality (i hear those displays are brighter), ...
