Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 on an X60
I am thinking about buying an X60 after several happy years of R50e useage and I noticed when shopping around that some of the models I have seen on sale seem to indicate varying amounts of ram (presumably from the main memory) for video useage. I looked at this page on the thinkwiki http://www.thin...

Using the TP volume buttons to control a USB sound device.
I just bought a combined USB hub/Audio device which has a a handy switch for my headphones/speakers. Is there any way I can use the volume buttons (vol up, vol down and mute) on my TP, its an R50e running XP sp1, to control the USB audio device the same way I can with the TPs built in headphone out?...

R50e keyboard removal problem.
I am trying to get the keyboard off of my R50e to upgrade the ram, I have removed the keyboard once before to see if I had a wifi capable unit or not. Unfortunately now I am having considerable difficulty in removing it. I carefully followed all the instructions here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/suppo...

Max HDD on R50e (installing a toshiba mk1032gax 100gb)
I have an R50e I am trying to upgrade and I am looking to install a rather reasonably priced (150 dollars ish) Toshiba MK1032 100gb 2.5 inch drive. I dont know of any reason this would be a problem but I just thought I would check. Is the TP going to recognise such a large HDD without any problem? T...

I have an r50e which I adore and I am thinking about the possibility of putting a DVDR/CDRW drive in to replace my DVD/CDRW. I dont seem to have found a source for these, if they even exist
Could anyone point me in the right direction or give me an idea of price?

Odd problem reinstalling windows XP on R50e
I recently started getting a few unfriendly looking error messages on my install of windows XP and decided to reformat. I have tried doing this on two different hard disks both seem to have the same problem. The reformat goes fine, the install goes fine but once windows starts up it seems to run ver...

Thinkpad modding / customizing (appearance not performance)
A user in a different forum mentioned that some Japanese users got to great lengths to import a US keyboard to replace their local one. I have also seen a couple of people mention kind of sticker kits to give your TP a wood or metal veneer or something similar. I was thinking about getting some fun ...

Thanks very much for the help and advice, especially made in japan. I kind of independantly arrived at solution number 4 as I had a spare 30 gb 2.5 inch drive lurking around from a dead mp3 player. It went much like this, 1 - install windows on second HD 2 - install LAN driver via CD 3 - get really ...
