problem solved - different hard disk bays T23 T20
Hi tfflivemb2, many thanks for your reply. The solution was as bizarre as the symptom! It seems my new case/shell is from a T23 and there are different disk trays (T20 vs T23 / IBM MANUAL DOCUMENT 62p9631 PAGE:116). I needed to use my old T20 Hard disk bay otherwise the hard disk malfunctions and th...

Yes after the bios update you have to disconnect all power sources
and than reconnect them.
You can still do it.No big problem.
Very often when you add a new hardware (eg CD ROM drive/new harddisk ect) you must do this as well.
It's like turning down your PC.
Maybe that's it.
Good luck.

Hi, have you disconnected the power supply and well as the battery after you upgraded your BIOS? Have you tried to install WINDOWS XP, just to see if it works? I don't think the brand of hard disk is an issue... Make sure you have a look at: http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/ Maybe somebody else h...

Thinkpad 600 40gb hard drive update trouble
HI PKIFF,
many thanks for your help.
I installed a 6gb and 12gb hard drive with Windows XP SP2 and it all worked fine on this Thinkpad 600.
I am just wondering if the 40gb size needs the Bios update or if this drive is too fast?
Looking forward to all your thoughts on this issue.
All the best

Hi AbsoluteRaleigh, I simply reconnect using my IP software. I have to do it many times [clicking] and with a bit of luck my T22 will connect to the Internet. It will stay connected to the internet for up to 30 min before I get disconnected. I wonder if it is the USB connection or the high data band...

Hi there, as mentioned in my email the Thinkpad 600 audio works fine in windows xp. Have a look at the above links and step by step. You have to disable the MIDI. I would also download the driver from the manufacturers website [windows 2000 one]. Not nice but at the end it will work. All the best CF

Broke my T20 LCD lid lock hook - FRU number and name???
Hi,
I broke the plastic 'hook' of the my T20 LCD lid. The one that helps to
lock the LCD screen top with the Thinkpad base.
Does anybody know the FRU number or even technical name of this part?
Many thanks

It simply doesn't connect. Is there any possible solution to this? Or do you need the right size screen to connect to spe...
