X62 batch evolution
Hi, There are many discussion threads on x62, but sometimes it is very difficult to get a clear picture on evolution of the boards from batch to batch. So I thought it would be great to summarize the differences among batches of x62. Here are the main topics for each batch: 1. hardware configuration...

Source to buy a 00HM745 screen for x240
Hi,
can someone advise a source to buy a 00HM745 LCD for an x240?
The sellers on eBay and Amazon send 00HM111 instead (Already returned two).

good FHD screen for x240 upgrade
hi, I am planning to upgrade an HD screen to a FHD on an x240. There are several FRU available on ebay. As I am quite new to x240 I was wondering which lcd is better? I heard about ghosting issues on some models. Could someone advise me the right model ? I was also wondering if there is some guide o...

Re: Thinkpad X61 still relevant?
Just want to add that recently I decided to move on and get something newer. So I bought myself a google pixel 2 and installed linux. The machine was amazing in all aspects. But when I decided to check out my old x61, I packed the pixel and put it on a sale on ebay. Mainly because there was nothing ...

Re: Thinkpad X61 still relevant?
Does that make the X61s the no longer relevant anno 2015? I would say, it is still ok, if you are not going to watch online >=720 video. I've been looking at the thinkwiki.de website and note that the X61s is thinner at the back (where the fan is). Given this, does the X61s pump out as much heat wi...

Re: Thinkpad X61 still relevant?
The performance difference between x61s and x61 is essential. An x61 with 4-8gb and ssd is really robust enough for flawless daily use and even some java development in my case. For the later sxga+ screen mod is a must. The good thing about these machines is that all the limitations can be fixed (sc...

Good point! I can do a load test on bare motherboard and measure the temps. If the northbridge gets much hotter then definitely have to think of a different solution.axur-delmeria wrote:But what if the heat transfer goes the other way--from northbridge to southbridge?

Re: X61 Heat!
Is that a flat sheet of Aluminum? Better insulate the underside so that it doesn't short out other components. But IMO it's easier to use the magnesium chassis as a heatsink. For now its just piece of paper :). But yes The idea is to use flat sheet of aluminium, and yes it definitely need to be iso...

Re: X61 Heat!
I think it is more related to the southbridge. I am thinking about extending the original heat-sink to reach the chip. Here is a possible solution: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1V59oAFpKB096ullVqgX2Stirvhun5Vb7ew/view?usp=sharing the only obsticle on its way might be the sim card slot (for some m...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
it appears iCCFL is currently shipping LED strips well suited to AFFS screens. They have slightly less saturation than the custom strips I made by hand, but they're also slightly brighter. The whitepoint and overall color balance are good. And I ordered 30 of them to keep a backup stock on hand. I ...
