Re: 0x00000024 NTFS.sys BSOD

Seems I've finally solved this humdinger. By obliterating the IDE controller and using the windows DVD to repair the resulting deadness of Windows, I managed to bring everything back up to snuff.

And I'm moving straight into fixing my backup setup. :D

0x00000024 NTFS.sys BSOD

Hi everyone. I'm getting the most unfortunate BSOD on boot with windows 7. The error is pretty scant on details, it just says 0x00000024, which is apparently a corruption of ntfs.sys. I've run system restore, system file checker, chkdsk, Spybot, AVG, checked the boot log, effectively disabled all se...

Re: Typical 8-cell battery life

I'm wanting to say worse. In some cases it looks better, but in other cases (like my project) they have a tinge of too much color. I had a neutral tan image of a canvas, and now it looks really yellowy.

Not much to do about it though, so oh well. I'll get used to it and won't even remember.

Re: Typical 8-cell battery life

This should technically be in another topic, but I hate to start an entire new one. >_O I sent the machine in, and it seems to be in better shape now. Except the colors now seem off since the screen was replaced. Everything seems more stark, and the colors in one of my projects now seem a little dif...

Re: Typical 8-cell battery life

It says 57.14 Wh, cycle count is 317, and the original capacity was 66.24 Wh. Seems to be in good condition. I don't think it's background processes, since I only have a chat client, antivirus, and logmein running. I'll give the startup processes list a run-through. I'm probably just expecting too m...

Re: Typical 8-cell battery life

Odd, since this battery came in sealed plastic and has always lasted for about 2 hours.

Can't even watch HD video on this thing. :P

Re: Typical 8-cell battery life

Called in the issues, going to have it fixed.

Still wondering if I'm getting the expected amount from the battery though. Surely two hours (sometimes less) isn't the full amount for an 8 cell even with wifi on? I can't imagine how I'd get by with a 4 cell.

Re: Typical 8-cell battery life

I'll probably renew it then. Lenovo's website is confusing for trying to find where exactly you put up a service request. Found it once long ago, but it seems to have disappeared.

Typical 8-cell battery life

Hey everyone, I've returned to pester you all again. :) This time my question's about the battery. It's an X61T 8-cell. How many hours can I expect to get out of a full charge with wifi turned on? I have a sneaking suspicion I'm not getting as much as I should be. Warranty expires tomorrow. Wonderin...

Re: Vista move/copy files

I had trouble with it, but for some reason it went away. Doesn't matter though, since I'm now using Teracopy, which hasn't failed me once! :D

But this is an old topic, I believe.

USB ports stop working

Didn't find anything in a search. I'm using an X61 Tablet running Ultimate. :) All is dandy until I unplug my USB devices (Those being a USB hub with a mouse, printer, and hard drive and an ipod on another port) and step away from my desk for a while. Sometimes when I come back and plug everything i...

Re: Screen Squish

Hmm, I've only got the pen screen too. I've noticed when the laptop is off and the sun is glaring on the screen protector, it looks kind of bowed in.

And the laptop gets ridiculously hot for no reason. :\ I thought ULV's weren't supposed to fry your legs.

Re: A few more questions. Trackpoint, multi-touch, heat, HDD.

My case may be different from yours. Make sure no external inputs are connected. Specifically bluetooth and USB mice. I had plugged a mouse into the extension cord I usually use for my external hard drive, and it had fallen behind my bed. Once I couldn't access the drive, I realized what happe...

Re: A few more questions. Trackpoint, multi-touch, heat, HDD.

Thanks for the reply, I fiddled with the power manager but I'll have to wait and see what happens. I doubt I'll be opening it up. I know (or at least I'm reasonably sure) the multi-touch panel had a resolution higher than 1024x768, which is what I ended up with. Writing down the HDD model you listed...

A few more questions. Trackpoint, multi-touch, heat, HDD.

Well, time to check in, I guess! Too many to put in separate threads. Table of Contents Naw, just kidding. XD At the moment my trackpoint has decided to be mean and start jittering in place. Restarted, reinstalled, no luck. Any tips? It's very distracting, not to mention debilitating. EDIT: Fi...

Re: WTB: Cheaper family thinkpad

Any size, preferably at least 800Mhz processor, and whatever reasonable price the particular unit would go for. :) I'm just comparing options, seeing what's best for the price. (Repair would be $50 plus whatever repair costs, which would probably require a mobo replacement. It's pretty much scrap.)

WTB: Cheaper family thinkpad

Long story short, the family laptop (a Compaq) is dead. I tried to revive an old slow PII Dell--not cuttin' it. My new X61 is changing hands so much I know something's going to happen to it. :S So! What better to do than buy an older solid thinkpad fast enough to handle Chrome, Facebook, Yahoo, and ...

The macbook pro bottom assembly... does that include everything but the screen or just the base plastic/aluminum? (I'm inferring that it's everything because of "assembly", just double checking. :D)

Screen Squish

I've a question that maybe someone here can answer. I’ve taken very good care of my X61 and I don’t press hard on the screen at all, but occasionally the LCD goes all funky in the middle when I’m using the stylus. (Like any other LCD when you touch it.) Is it normal for tablets to do this occasional...

Crunch? Take all of the keys off carefully and blow out the underside. Sounds like crumbs and dust to me. ;) Mine did the same thing until I cleaned it out.

I was pretty frustrated when I saw the sale. I knew they'd drop the price as soon as I saw it. :| If I'd just waited, I'd have enough money left over to buy all the things I need for it. XD Oh well, that's how it goes.
