Re: Wooooo!!! Whooooo!!!!

Hmm, well I must be crazy, because I find my Thinkpad X61 + Office setup much more hassle-free than my brother's macbook. Oh well, not really important. :D

Re: Wooooo!!! Whooooo!!!!

I could see it going both ways. People could start to realize the stupidity of some of Apple's policies, or they could continue to love them and whatever they deem is cool, adopting it even if it's the most hideous thing on earth. Either way, I think Apple's following will at least get a bit smaller...

Re: Wooooo!!! Whooooo!!!!

I'll be interested to see what comes of this as well... Although I doubt Apple's going anywhere for a while. Their somewhat ridiculous business plan is ignored by the masses who worship them simply because they love being chic with their shiny apple device in their pocket. :P But, I seem to love Len...

Yes, I thought about that... I would likely be buying one of those instead if I were able to.

Re: LF: X61 Tablet RAM and External DVD drive

Hmm, it's a nitpick, but I'm looking for something a bit neater than that. All of my computing career has been riddled with cobbled-together frankensteins, which is fine and fun in a way. But with the X61 I'm going all out "normal". :D Thanks though.

Re: LF: X61 Tablet RAM and External DVD drive

Bump. Bought the RAM, looking for an external DVD drive. I can get one for $66 on ebay, so that's a good price reference... :D

Re: FS: S30 rare thinkpad

Could you post some pics here? People would be more likely to bother if they could see pictures right away.

I won't be able to buy it from you, even though I'm interested. I just spent all my laptop fund money on an X61 tablet.

Re: Tablet screen protector

I'm fairly positive they are referring to the non-tablet versions of the x60. As far as I know, all tablets would have to have the "hard" lcd.

Re: Wooooo!!! Whooooo!!!!

We should have an annual write-your-computer-manufacturer day. If I heard correctly, there was recently a few changes in power at Lenovo. Maybe some good could come of it and customer service (and also quality assurance) will step up a bit. :D

Re: Wooooo!!! Whooooo!!!!

You guys realize that it was just a funky driver, right? Of course we want Lenovo to listen to us... but abandoning a good line of products because one update was a little messy? O_o Sounds wimpy to me. Nobody was disputing that Lenovo should cater to its customers, but this specific case was about ...

Re: Wooooo!!! Whooooo!!!!

It seems like something that's not such a big deal. Computers are prone to error, and aren't going to run perfectly all the time. I can say I've never had trouble with any of my thinkpads and their drivers, however, other major manufacturers have given me trouble. If you want to blame Lenovo, that's...

Re: WOOHOO!

Ah, thanks Marin85. :) I guess I'll just have to wait until I can find an external DVD drive. I actually ended up buying a new one from eBay. Lenovo dropped the multitouch feature and the price went back up. Originally I had been planning on buying it on ebay, then I decided lenovo, and it ended up ...

Re: Wooooo!!! Whooooo!!!!

It's not lenovo's fault at all, I don't see why you'd stop buying thinkpads because a windows driver went screwy. Have fun with other brands. :P Oh also, it has been my experience that if you know what you are doing, the Mac vs. PC war just comes down to personal preference and/or software availabil...

Erm, these sorts of things happen to all manufacturers. O_o Certainly the build quality of the thinkpad is more than enough to make up for the fudged driver?

Re: WOOHOO!

I love this thing... First thing I did was revert to classic theme. I don't care if the UAC is more secure, I turned it off. :P It was the most obnoxious thing I think I have ever come across in windows, asking everytime I hit the mouse button. :? I've got 2GB in the mail! :D I have the windows 7 be...

Re: WOOHOO!

Ok, I lied. Vista's speed isn't that bad once it's fully booted. It just takes awhile to load all the programs. :) Once I get the RAM, I think I'll be content.

WOOHOO!

It came! After years of eyeing a new thinkpad, my shiny X61 tablet has appeared in the mail. I'm lovin' this thing... But I've gotta say I am NOT impressed with Vista's speed and popping up questions every time I try to make a new folder. I'm sure I can disable it, but I don't have any clue ho...

If the S10's corners were boxified and it had a trackpoint, it would be fairly close to a thinkpad netbook. Not quite though.

Re: Ultranav Travel Keyboards on ebay, pack of 10. Group buy?

The money I would have used for buying one went toward my tablet's RAM. :( Guess it's the next person in line then. :)

I'll keep an eye on the marketplace for a potential buy in the future.

LF: X61 Tablet RAM and External DVD drive

I'm going to need a couple Gigs of RAM for my new tablet that's coming in the mail, and I'm hoping someone here will have an extra module or two that they'll sell to me cheap. (Or know where to get it cheap.)

Also looking for an external bus-powered DVD drive.

Thanks!

Tablet screen protector

If all goes well, I should be buying my x61 tablet tonight. :D I'd like to have a screen protector on its way at the same time, so that I don't scratch the screen up. Are there any recommendations for screen protectors? e.g. A certain brand, type, adhesive, etc. I want a good quality one. This seems...

(Couldn't figure out newegg) (Still looking for a deal on a sleeve) Just wanted to check to make sure this is a good plan, particularly with the screen protector. :D Thanks!
