Re: Win10 ate the Gobi GPS on my W530
Windows 10 should have built-in tools to use GPS, it should be visible at least in the new control panel, and should be able to turn it off and on. If not there, then it is drivers problem. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/uEFL23AsdO2BiEOC571lBLrojOQEe8qwNhTnNvwGJiGPWqLf1M7CGkHH0zj-wP3JQX3EMjH-GpsT...

Re: A few questions about the E430 (or E431)
I believe the T430 (T not E) was tested to work with this processor.
it does require a 90w power adapter, and doesn't work right with the common 65w adapter.

the **30 laptops are much more efficient than the **20 laptops at medium loads, and the integrated gpu is about 50% more powerful. The card I would choose is the Broadcom BCM94352HMB. If you want 3-antennas wireless AC, and you are willing to install 3 new antennas manually, then take a look at BCM94360HMB. Disclaimer: I haven't tested either cards myself, can't yet justify the price of card + price of router + international sh...

Re: [ThinkPad T420s] In search of recovery media
I tried once to recover a t520 (using a t420 media, which should be fine) on a 64gb ssd, and it failed due to not having enough space, the recovery media appears to take an extra partition on the drive that finishes up all the space for SSDs that are that small.

Reason for fan to stay on or maximum level ?
Trying to debug a laptop that I do not have access to, and want to buy. The current owner is complaining that "the fan stays on". what is the possibility that this is a MB issue, and not just needing a BIOS update + TPFanControl ? is it possible for a fuse or MB chip to cause the fan to run constant...

Both should have USB 3 and the similar CPU performance,
I'd go with the x230 for the improved iGPU, which could be beneficial for some graphics software.

Pretty much, the worst thing about windows 10, is not only its privacy options, but for microsoft to change privacy settings and reducing your control over your PC over time, which their license allow them to do. http://winaero.com/blog/microsoft-locks-some-group-policy-options-to-enterprise-edition...

Look for a used W530 with FHD non-touch screen if you need loads of RAM. +1 The FHD on the W530/T530 have some eye straining issues, which are easily resolved via either color calibration, or just lowering the saturation. Performance wise, the quadcores used in the *30 generation, or even the *20 a...

Note that there is the P50 and P70 that fits the description, but, there is also ThinkPad P40 Yoga , which doesn't.
so maybe P5x and P7x only.
Note sure too about the "P50s"
