What to do with dead 28++ slice batteries?

Through some bad luck on eBay, I've wound up with 5 seemingly unused, but dead, 28++ batteries. They won't take a charge (tried T430, W530, and TP external charger). There's 0V coming off of the charging port. Out of curiosity, I opened one up and measured ~1V across each of the cells (3V across the...

Re: W530 high temps and repasting

Thanks for the suggestions! I have some 99% IPA I can clean off the old paste with. I did use 70% originally to clean off the CPU and GPU. They were spotless after cleaning! I'll retry with less paste to see if it makes a difference. I've never had to manually spread the paste over a CPU with a card...

Re: W530 high temps and repasting

What thermal paste did you use? Did you make sure the mounting screws are decently tight? Also it is going to take a few days usually for the thermal paste to reach its maximum thermal performance. Arctic MX-4 thermal paste (tube is about a year old). The mounting screws are in all the way. They bo...

W530 high temps and repasting

I recently acquired a W530, with an i7-3840QM CPU and nvidia K2000m graphics. Considering the age of the laptop, I repasted the CPU and graphics card. I didn't think to measure CPU temps before repasting. I'm a little surprised by the temperature after repasting though. Idle temps after running for ...

Re: LF: xiphmont's LED driver board (TLD)

Coincidentally, I happened to measure the voltage out from a modified inverter over the weekend and I see 20V.

Re: T430 - crucial BX500 SSD not getting detected in BIOS

Is the hard drive in a caddy, or is it just a bare drive in the slot? It should be in something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/lenovo-Thinkpad-T420s-T420SI-T430-Laptop-Hard-Drive-Caddy-7mm-thin/222674084053?hash=item33d868e0d5:g:iaIAAOSwCkZZXraq I have a 7mm SSD in my T430 (in a caddy) and don'...

WTB: 28++ Slice Battery

Looking for one with decent life left. I've tried a couple off of eBay but they were all DOA and wouldn't charge (tried T430, W530, and external battery charger). Thanks! P/N 0A36304, FRU 45N1017.

Edit: I took it apart and set the card cage aside. The rest is history. If you want the cage, it's yours. FRU 42X3828 - not 27.
Great, looks like that part will work (according to https://www.theboardroom.info/t61mobo.html). Will DM you for details. Thanks!

Yes, the expresscard/PC Card version is what I'm looking for. I think the FRU is 42X3827.

FOUND: T61 PC Card Cage

Needed for frankenpad. Seems a shame to buy a whole T61 just for this part. Please let me know if you have one you are willing to part with. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll contact RealBlackStuff about sending the inverter and cable in, and keep my eyes open for a panel. Best of luck with your search!

BoeHydis 150ux2-100 upgrade suggestions

Hi! I've got a spare T60 w/ 15" 1024x768. I'm thinking of upgrading the display w/ the LED-backlit 1600x1200 display (Boe Hydis 150ux2-100). I'm seeing a fair number of these displays on eBay, albeit not cheaply. Wondering if anyone has done this recently and where they sourced the display from? Als...
