Re: Secure erase and NVME card

Your question is how to secure erase NVMe SSD (in your case, yours is M.2 "2242" sized SSD). 1. There are a number of freeware secure erase programs out there; just google for "secure erase ssd freeware". ==> Anyone else with actual experience with a good freeware secure erase SSD program ? 2. We have a souped up T410 (maxed out to 8 GB RAM, large 2.5" SATA SSD) as our daily driver, and it runs very well! Our T410 (and by extension T510) is just fine for daily office work use: 1. Wow, adding an internal USB port into X250/X260? If successful, you'll probably be amongst the first ones to do this! 1. A fellow ThinkPadder (probably not from this forum) shared in great detail how he had successfully added an internal USB port into his X220. But by doing this mod, it meant that h...

Re: Windows 10 Now Require a Minimum of 32GB Storage Space -- April 2019

Just to clarify, MS said this 32GB minimum requirement is aimed especially at small form factor Win10 devices such as MS Surface or other similar devices,
where the device's total storage perhaps maybe 32-64 GB in size only! Guess MS is prodding the OEM makers to increase their storage capacity.

If you do serious work on your computer with Win10 64-bit, then I personally (strongly) suggest 16GB RAM. It's quite easy to go over the 8 GB RAM usage nowadays. Browsers and webpages are no longer trying hard to reduce their memory usage. My pet peeve is that webpages are now regularly embedding vi...

Perhaps we're lazy, but we tend to use a disk imaging program (AOMEI for us) to take a disk snapshot, after product recovery and windows customization. Then we revert to this image every two years or so, then reinstall the programs we use. This way, the Windows gremlins (maybe like what you are obse...

Hi dr_st,

Sorry for my grammar, will try to use "we" consistently to avoid any confusion!

At the risk of betraying my age, there was a time when writing "we" is polite and writing "I" is impolite.
But nowadays it seems "ok" to write "I" without the connotations of being selfish/rude.
