I just upgraded my T40's RAM, but I didn't use a GB stick... I don't know if there's a huge difference between 1 GB and 1.5 GB.... But there is definitely a difference between 512MB and 1GB, not to mention a speed increase between 2x256 PC2100 and 2x512 PC2700... only problem was actually getting t...

1. If you use CPU-Z to check a RAM chip, the frequency it shows under the spd tab is actually 1/2 the rated fequency (it reads only one side of the bus, apparently). Mine reads 166, which means the rated bus speed is 333mhz. That's why it's called DDR - Double Data Rate. The data rate is twice that...

You must connect to the cable somehow. Anywhere between the client and host. That is the "cable." Let's split this to two. First, between my computer and the router. Second, between my router and the server on the outside to which I connect. Also, sniffing can be done on the software level (IP/TCP)...

Considering that it's the same chip and the same amount of RAM on both of them, they should be within margin of error of each other in terms of performance.

Difference between the Flexview and the non-Flexview is noticeable. Flexview is better. UXGA vs. SXGA+ is almost negligible. If you don't plan extensive gaming, the 64MB whatever-it-is should be fine. $950 is a lot, that's for sure. I'm not sure it's worth it just because Flexview is a better displa...

Mostly it affects weight, I guess. I worked on an R50e notebook and it didn't _feel_ any worse than my T42. I don't think it's any more or less durable because of that.

First of all, the performance increase of dual channel RAM is 5% tops, and we're talking just about the RAM subsystem. I'd go with Fred and Star and suggest that you decide for the T43, simply because overall it's a much newer, more powerful and capable model. In terms of your question, having a dedicated card is always a plus, but the 7500 isn't much more powerful than the GMA900. In fact, I remember hearing, at le...

The gap has always been there. The piece of metal is the shield and structure around the PCMCIA slots. The flapper (that is a flimsy piece of engineerin) needs clearance to fold down. That is the gap. So I would say: "Yes, it should be there" ... JD Hurst And can you lift the bezel through the gap?
