Don't think there be user serviceable parts in those waters. The old, worn out one ... I presume you reviewed the battery details in Power Manager to see the number of cycles and the remaining capacity? The one that I bought with my T43, and drained 100% regularly, has roughly 25% capacity. Just eno...

Don't blindly use update to install the latest versions of utilities for an older model. Review the release notes for each, look for the "change log" or "version history" and see which version actually had a fix for your model. That's the version you'd want to find. See my recent, longer post in the...

Well, I plugged the one from my T61 at work into my Dock II for my T43, tried burning a movie at 2.4x, and ... after a moment it hung, had to power off the computer. Next morning, I had LSASS problems for an hour, and minor hard drive corruption to correct. Won't try that again.

i'm suspecting the OP installed some software which isn't shutting down properly ... or has a hard drive issue. To bypass the former, there is a timeout period that Windows is willing to wait for applications to cleanly exit on system shutdown (WaitToKillAppTimeout). It's set in the Registry, but ca...

Right, I believe that's the case with the MUTE button, i.e. it mutes all audio output. I simply turn the internal speaker volume to 0 or 1, and the dock's LINE OUT audio continues working fine. Since I have to keep the Windows volumn in SNDVOL32 pretty low, this effectively mutes the laptops interna...

My advice is tighten the screws, clean the screen, buy more RAM and a new battery and reinstall XP with SP3. Ditto.
