Now that is one nice looking Thinkpad.

Based upon your wallpaper, it looks like you're ready to compute where no PC has gone before.

Ba da bum.

Thank you, thank you.

No.

If he's referring to 2600 the magazine (I love it), then this is probbaly a good starting point.

Craigslist is also a good choice. If you have TV repair place near you - perhaps they can take a look at the monitor you want repaired.

I have your original version in a VM. Seems to work OK. I need to read up on how WindowMaker actually works. I was just kinf clicking on stuff. Re: Samsung Series 4: the Thinkpad X220 killer?

The series 4 actually look like a decent business class laptop. I might have to read some reviews and see if it's worth recommending to my clients. I traditionally recommend Dell Latitude's and Precision's because Pro Support is simply phenomenal and no OEM I have dealt with has come close to Dell's...

Aw man, I am really sorry to hear about the loss of your Thinkpad. I don't have any answers for you on tracing the machine. Maybe you can check local pawn shops. Did you have proof of purchase and the serial #? I ask because it will probably be pawned for drug money. Hopefully you had your data back...

Bumping this old thread to report in. I picked up a very nice X301 in great condition from forum member RealBlackStuff. For me, it would have to be either the T410 or T60.

Excellent machines though.

I'd also give a shoutout to the T23. Mine got me through college and it's serial port was most helpful when connecting to routers and whatnot.

Shout out to RBS who sold me a near pristine X301.

Admittadly, I was 2 or 3 days late on the paypal (sorry about that, life happens).

I am very excited to grab an mSATA SSD and get 'er running. Linux is going to run like a champ on it.

I don't believe the F12 option will show USB unless a USB drive is attached to the system.

Are you planning to install the OS via a USB flash drive?

Re: Sluggish performance with mSATA SSD

We are aware of that.

That being said even an mSATA SSD capped at SATAII speeds is still rather speedy - provided you buy a decent SSD. An 850 EVO, Crucial, Intel or Sandisk are good choices. I'd stay away from Kingston, Patriot and Adata drives - not to mention OCZ.

For burning CD's and DVD's I typically use either CDBurnerXP or IMGBurn.

On linux I use Brassero.

That being said, I can't recall the last time I *had* to burn a disc at home. Work, yes. Home, no.

Hope it works out for you.

Re: Looks like a new W7xx (edit: 17" P70, and P50 replacing W541) is coming out? (small pics)

Nice hardware. Why is it that OEM's cannot curve the front edge of the laptop anymore? My T410 has a nice curve on the front lower edge by the trackpad buttons which allows my wrists to rest comfortably on the machine. Every Dell I have used since the D630 has had square edges and they hurt your (my...

Re: Your favorite Linux distro on a Thinkpad? Why?

As of right now and for the foreseeable future, BunsenLabs is my favorite distro. Based on pure Debian with OpenBox as the WM, it's extremely fast on my T410 with 8GB of RAM and a 250GB SSD. It's the only OS on my laptop and is my daily driver. I do have Windows 7 in a VM should the need arise, but ...

Re: Can you boot from an Express Card? *PIC*

For my express card slot I am thinking of getting a USB 3 card. While not true USB 3.0, it should be faster than the USB 2.0 ports my machine has now. Why is it not true USB 3.0? It would be as true as if your T410 had a built-in USB 3.0 controller, since the controller would go through the same PC...

Yup. A fresh install of the OS using OEM Windows 7 media (NOT the Lenovo recovery disks) and a run of Thinkvantage System Update + Windows Update should do you right. Or if you don't *need* Windows, run linux. But that's just me. I dropped Windows as my boot OS about 6 months ago or so and only have...
