Re: X200 Samsung PVA CCFL Panel - Does it exist?
Thanks RBS... Saw those links - good btw. Looks like that panel did actually exist from this datasheet: http://www.jxlcd.com/Upload/PicFiles/LTN121AP02-001.pdf, not sure why it wasn't mentioned in the HMM. Well hopefully one turns up... that was my main reason for pulling the trigger on a X200. I've...

Re: LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions
In my experience the LG-Philips is the 'yellowest' followed by IDtech then BOE-Hydis. The BOE-Hydis that I was talking about has lost some of its 'new blue' colour now, much later and still being used for >5 hours daily. I assume that as the CCFLs age they get more yellow and that, at least with so...

X200 Samsung PVA CCFL Panel - Does it exist?
Apparently Samsung manufacturered a drop in panel for the X200, Part No: LTN121AP02 FRU: 42T0563... I've searched but I can't seem to find any genuine ones for sale (only substitutes without any photos or part numbers). If not online, does anyone know where I might source one from? Were they availab...

Re: Need advice for SSD for T60P - read forum, but can't decide
After some reading I settled on a used Intel 320 because of their bulletproof reliability and data saving power loss feature. Grabbed a used drive from ebay for cheap, thanks all.

Re: Thinkpad X61 still relevant?
I do want to warn you that people will say the palmrest heat problem is solved with a replacement smaller wi-fi card, but I don't think that's true. In every X61 I've used I experience the same gradual warm right palmrest even without a card inserted at all . It's not a huge deal, but keep it in mi...

Re: X61s Win 7 64 Home 50% CPU Utilization Idle
Fire up services.msc via a Run command (or enter it in the search box of the start menu), then towards the bottom you can set the startup type of Windows Update to Disabled. When you are ready to have it do its thing, set the startup type to Manual or one of the Automatic options, and tell it to st...

Re: Lowest Power WiFi Card
Is there a reduction in power consumption/heat for half-sized vs full-sized cards in the equivalent model (e.g. 5300), or is just a "form factor" difference?

Re: X61s Win 7 64 Home 50% CPU Utilization Idle
This exact problem is affecting my X60T (Win 7 x86 Pro). I have the same settings "check for updates but let me choose when to download and install them", with 220ish updates waiting. The machine just sits there for hours trying to install them with no success. Even tried a "hotfix" which did nothin...

Re: Need advice for SSD for T60P - read forum, but can't decide
If you find $64.99 for an SSD too expensive, you better stick with rotating drives for the time being... Thanks for hammering that point home - I usually ignore US sites because they tend not to ship to AU (or it's ridiculously expensive) and ebay turned up a bargain US $134.85 shipped. However, I ...

Re: Need advice for SSD for T60P - read forum, but can't decide
If you are on a tight budget, then you may want to consider a used Crucial M4 or Samsung 830. Both are excellent SSD's that, while older, have proven themselves to be reliable. Another cheap option may be a Intel X-25M G2, which is an older model as well, but regarded as the most reliable SSD by qu...

Need advice for SSD for T60P - read forum, but can't decide
Just got my hands on a T60P, which I plan to slowly build up into a Frankenpad, but at this stage I just want to add an SSD. I've already looked at a few threads: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=116396 http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=116580 http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewt...

Re: LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions
I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Boe-Hydis HV150UX1-100 from cgsplcd on ebay. It seems *soooo* blue-white, my eyes almost feel like I'm in a nightclub with UV lighting! I'm fairly sure that it's not just a reaction to having used a yellowing display for so long as I also have a couple of 20" ...

X6Xx - cool and quiet - which mods/cpu/chassis yields the best result?
I have a L2400 (1.66 Ghz) X60T which was running extremely hot when I first received it. So I did these two things: Swapped out the 3945 WLAN card for a 6200N, Reapplied thermal grease to the cpu die and the die next to it and tossed the heat pad. While it probably knocked anywhere between 1-5C off,...

Re: WANTED: Good Download Link for Zender Bios for X60T Tablet
Alright half way there (correct IBM bios installed already). Is it safe to use the bootable USB stick method to flash to Zender? I am without a USB CD/FDD and impatient.. Using a couple of web pages, I managed to create a bootable USB using "HP USB Format Tool", and I unzipped/extract the .iso to th...

Re: WANTED: Good Download Link for Zender Bios for X60T Tablet
Link re-sent, just don't let it sit there again for 2 weeks... Thanks RBS - yes sorry for that one... I was in awaiting a WLAN card when I initially posted, however the buyer refused to it sell me in the end, so the project got shelved/forgotten while I waited for another to arrive in the post... I...

Re: WANTED: Good Download Link for Zender Bios for X60T Tablet
If it's appropriate for me to bump this thread...
Could I request that someone kindly PM me the link to the same X60T bios, and if inclined, perhaps some instructions so not to fudge the process!
I need to get this working with a yet unpurchased 6205N.
Thank you in advance.
