Hello! I would like to install the Ultrabay Security Screw on my W700ds however I do not have one. I have am having a hard time finding one to purchase and would like to avoid dealing with Lenovo direct (I can only imagine the cost for a single screw). Can anybody recommend another source of the scr...

W700ds Palm Rest Flex - Normal?
Hello! Yesterday I replaced the terrible keyboard on my W700ds with a T60 keyboard which does not suffer from keyboard flex. The replacement keyboard is excellent and really makes using the laptop much more enjoyable. However! In replacing the keyboard and reinstalling the palm rest you are to apply...

Re: WANTED: UK keyboard for W700ds
Johan, Thank you for taking the time to reply; the reason my post is unspecified (acknowledged!) is because I do not actually know the model number that I require. I have tried to obtain that information in the corresponding sub-forum but my post [*] has received no replies. I also found the 'Keyboa...

WANTED: UK keyboard for W700ds
Hello, I would like to purchase a UK keyboard for a W700ds. I am looking for one from an older generation laptop which does not suffer from the loud/hollow sounding keys, a 'feature' of the current keyboard. I'd ideally like a 'new' keyboard but would, condition dependant, consider a 'used' one. Tha...

W700ds Keyboard - Which part number to buy? UK
Hello! I have a W700ds and it has the, what appears to be 'normal', 'loud' keys on the left side of the keyboard. I would love to be able to ignore it but I am having a hard time doing so. Therefore, I've read elsewhere that replacing the keyboard with one from an older model would be just fine. Can...

Re: W700ds: Enable RAID
Thank you for your comments. I have now solved my problem (and will detail the solution below) however for the benefit for anybody who may be searching the forum with a similar problem I will cover some of the points you discuss first: My W700ds does have Intel Raid chipset and the Intel Matrix Stor...

WANTED: W700 / W700ds Windows Vista Business Recovery Media
Hello! I own a W700ds with Windows Vista Business installed and with recovery partition intact (COA on the underside of the device). I have created recovery media using the ThinkVantage tools but it would appear that this media is not suitable for installation with RAID array enabled in the BIOS (mi...

Re: W700ds: Enable RAID
Thank you for your help :) I will call Lenovo later - It's a public holiday in the UK so they may not be available, in which case I'll try again tomorrow. I'll update my progress here - I'm doubtful, though, as the ThinkPad is out of warranty. I have done a significant amount of searching for help b...

W700ds: Enable RAID
Hello! I own a ThinkPad W700ds, though I'd imagine that my question would be just as well answered if it were a W700... Please, any help would be great! :) I purchased a 'used' W700ds with Windows Vista Business (COA and recovery partition intact, but no media supplied). The laptop was advertised wi...

Re: WTB: Lenovo Thinkpad T or W Series - UK Buyer
Do you need powerful, dedicated graphics, or is integrated graphics good enough for you? What is the intended use of that laptop? Hello! I'm not entirely sure what I want to be honest; I had originally started out wanting a ThinkPad because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It seemed a T...

T61p - Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache
How can I tell if 'Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache' is installed in a T61p without having to physically remove the casing? Can I check in device manager? What entry should I look for? Thanks.

Re: T61p GPU - Any way to check if from 'bad batch'
Thanks for the replies. I have found out it is 08/07. Strictly speaking this not 'safe' from the previous 'rule of thumb' but how likely is it that this month has the bad chip? Am I, say, safer than 'normal'? Thanks!

T61p GPU - Any way to check if from 'bad batch'
Hello! :) As subject; Is there any way to check if the T61p nVidia GPU is from a 'bad batch'? E.g., can I ask a seller for the serial number and somehow find the manufacture date on the Lenovo website? Alternatively, is that listed anywhere on the laptop? If the manufacture date of the laptop is bey...
