Re: How many people on this forum own a Galaxy S9/S9+?

I don't think heat has been an issue with chips since 2008 and the T61p. I have a Galaxy A3 and a few hours of some emulation will cook that thing. Had it for a year and the battery is holding just fine with the same performance from when it was new. My experience for Snapdragon devices is just not...

Re: How many people on this forum own a Galaxy S9/S9+?

I have an S9, AT&T version. Once I was able to install some of my Blackberry software on it (Hub and Calendar), I am quite happy with it, fast, great screen, HD voice and wifi calling. Ignore most of the Samsung apps, disable Bixby. Is the battery life good on the Snapdragon side? Some things I am ...

Re: A21 Turns on then off inmediatly

That I can't say, as I don't own either model I haven't done nearly as much research about this issue on them. But I can't say it's not possible. I'd say it's more likely on the A30 than the T30 because the T30 uses the Pentium 4, whereas all the 20 series and the A30 used one of the Pentium III fl...

Re: A21 Turns on then off inmediatly

If all else fails, something to keep in mind is many of the 20 series (A2x, T2x, X2x and TransNote) have a fairly well known motherboard design flaw around the implementation of the power circuit. Does the T30 and A31 series have the same problem? All the A31p motherboards I have touched have more ...

How many people on this forum own a Galaxy S9/S9+?

I know this is an odd place to ask this, but I am just curious who else on this forum owns or will own a Galaxy S9 or S9+.
If so, what variant as well as how is your experience with it so far?

Re: M58p SFF GPU options

Also, I don't think a E8600 can ever be able to utilise more performance power than a GT 1030 delivers. If you are worried about the heat output of the regular C2Q 4 cores, go for the Xeon X3363.

Re: M58p SFF GPU options

Yes, but 1030 does not require PSU upgrade. It maxes at 30W. Neither does the 750 Ti or 1050 Ti. They all top off at 75W and do not need any 6-pin connectors. They say they need 300W minimum PSU, but I am 100% sure that a 280W PSU is sufficient as long as you don't use the 105W CPUs, provided that ...

Re: M58p SFF GPU options

Well, $70-80 is the price for new 1030GT in Poland; you can get one for that price in any shop.. HD 7570 with 1Gig DDR5@128bit costs around $35 here, so this is a nice option to test actually. I think if you wanna go get the GT 1030, might as well go get the GTX 750 Ti LP used if you can find that ...

Radeon HD7570 low profile is not too expensive on used market like ebay, can be DDR3 or GDDR5 both on 128bit vram. Any Radeon RX 460 2GT LP 2GB GDDR5 128-bit Low Profile for same price as GT1030 but based on 128 bits 2GB vram. Low profile bracket usually supplied but can find low profile bracket on...

Re: Yet another i7 upgrade thread...help

Well, provided that I am using the single heatpipe heatsink right now, it barely handles it, but yes it won't break your computer. CPU temperature goes into the high 80s and sometimes low 90s, but won't go to a throttling point unless you put GPU load on top of it, in which case the CPU skyrockets u...

Re: Laptops: Butchered in vain

I've had a 770ED that eventually killed itself. Power board failed and possibly fried the mobo as well. Otherwise aside from a few mini cracks made by myself from my T43 units as well as the coating on IBM ThinkPad wearing itself off, no damage had been done to the laptops I have.

I think a ThinkPad 600 suits your needs if you want more portability and is fine with Pentium II, as well as an overkill HDD, RAM, DVD-ROM and XGA monitor.

I had my hands on many A31p motherboards and almost all of them can power on only with at least one of your procedures. I think what you can try is to hook your keyboard up to any of the A/T/R 2x/3x/4x/5x computers, since the physical keyboard connector for all of those computer is the same (trust m...

Re: Yet another i7 upgrade thread...help

I heard somewhere that using 45W CPU inside T4x0 boards stresses the power phases and mobo quite a lot more and results in a shorter lifespan. And yes 45W CPUs run quite a bit hotter. Even in my T530i right now with Arctic Silver the CPU (i7-3720qm) can still throttle quite a bit when running combin...

I have a TOSHIBA THNSNJ256GMCU 256GB SSD (bought 2 months ago, as gently used for CAD$60) inside my T530i. Thanks, guys. Can't believe there are 1TB versions of these things! A bit too pricey for me right now, but it's pretty awe inspiring. 1TB mSATA is an overkill for that thing. Nothing that I know of can take up that amount of space, runs on this computer and needs that high response time of SSD. Get...

Re: What is the 14 inch, and 15.x inch sibling of x230?

If you want something equivalent of a today's typical notebook with a i5 and iGPU, stick with the T530 (though I still recommend the one with NVidia graphics as that ivy Bridge iGPU just can't cut it today anymore) and you will get a sweet deal compared to today's 7th gen offerings (non-U 8th gen CP...

Re: What is the 14 inch, and 15.x inch sibling of x230?

W530 typically comes with a better discrete NVidia graphics and possibly supports the extreme edition CPUs which I don't think you should get over something like i7-3720qm, as well as a possibly better cooling solution. And if you buy the whole W530 instead of just a mobo inside a T530, it is actual...

Re: Internet browser for T23 and older without SSE2 (Pentium III)

W2K is a huge security risk, I wouldn't run any old NT--unless you're not dealing with any sensitive data and don't care about privacy or security on it (which is fair). True that. But honestly it doesn't interfere too much other than making yourself worried for many ppl. And yes I am the kind of p...

Re: Internet browser for T23 and older without SSE2 (Pentium III)

I do have FireFox 48.0.2 and Windows 7 installed on my maxed out T23 and A30p. They work just fine, if you only open a few tabs, install adblocker and also keep the browser debloated, and max out RAM. Of course, if you expect them to run like a brand new Lamborghini instead of a functional Volkswage...

I personally have the T530i with discrete Nvidia NVS 5400M. The performance of that thing is around a Skylake/Kaby lake iGPU after an OC. If you use high quality thermal compound (best if liquid metal), you are able to push the clock of that chip all the way to the maximum (you get around up to 20% ...

Well, compared to delivery services in countries like China (domestic delivery, at least), USPS is definitely pure garbage. That said, USPS is still better than the worst times Canada Post can be. Around 2 years ago I ordered some TrackPoint from a eBay seller who's like 15km away from where I live,...
