Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

According this There are only 5000 produced in total and 625 for the European market . :D Oh well if it's limited, I ain't spending any hassle of getting it. it ain't any better than my T530 with i7-3720QM aside from battery life. Even at that, i have yet a few years to spend with my T43p over my T...

Hmm where do you suggest to put the antenna in a lid that doesn't come with antenna? Back of the lid? I have spare 15" T4x antennae that I wanna make use of.

Re: ThinkPad T23 Arrival

Also, the USB is not locked to one machine so I can use it on more than one machine. I believe the mini PCI is obsolete now, where USB is universal. If you decide to use WiFi in a T23 a lot, then go for mPCI cards as they are cheap and far more reliable. FYI, mPCI cards can be used on all post 2000...

If you don't mind the dock, keep in mind that a T4x will do all that - with a mini dock and external floppy drive, but T4x do still have floppy controllers built into the motherboard. I got mini dock and charger for less than cad $50 and external floppy drive (Ultraslimbay factor) at next to nothing...

Stock card on the A30p was not Intel 2200BG, but a wireless B/modem combo card and it did not support anything apart from WEP with the stock firmware. The same card was used in T23. Ah my bad, what was I saying? By stock I actually meant that it was the very same card from my T43 (2200bg) and my A3...

Do you have compatibility issues with some public Wi-Fi networks? My A30p with a stock 2200BG card can't connect to some public networks even in Windows 7 while my T43 with the same card do not have that issue.

Congrats! :D Well I ordered battery as well - but the UltraBay variant so that I can swap batteries between my A30p and T23. What happens if they decided to revisit IAUX14S with an optional QXGA upgrade?
Also while I don't have my hopes too high, I at least hope Lenovo is not stupid enough to mark the anniversary with something similar to what Apple did in 1997!

Re: 2 - Thinkpad A30p - Swap LCD and backlight not working on 2nd???

Check fuses F13 and F8 near the LCD-connector on the mobo. AFAIK one of them feeds the LEDs and the backlight. F8 is NOT under the LCD connector - it's under the DOCK connector Also does A31 series have different fuse labels than A30 series? I remembered fixing F19 and F8 did the job on my A31p! F8...

Exactly. I got my A30 as a base model with 256mb RAM and 14.1" display from a high school for free and turned it to its maximum specs

Well the other card that can come with T4x - 2915ABG supports 5Ghz @ 54mbps (802.11a). I find that important because some noob friends of mine don't know how to set up 2.4ghz alongside 5ghz on their routers so that I can't connect to their WiFi with 2200bg card. However, 2915abg is even more problem...

There are no socketed CPUs Lenovo could use, as all mobile Intel CPUs are BGA now. What about the MMC-2 type package. They could make their own of sorts. That's a waste of money. The reason they stopped producing PGA packages for mobile platform since broadwell is that manufacturers such as Apple a...

Another thing you can do with low end T4x is to make them into digital gallery. 14.1" XGA is low end, but they get photo displaying jobs done, especially if you just have a working GMA motherboard with a whole other bunch of parts that isn't enough for a full laptop.

Well I would say if your older T4x machines do not have a high-res IPS display, there isn't much of a point using them for your main daily tasks, because in that case the T6x machines do much better and the non-IPS versions are pretty cheap. Instead for that kind of machine, I would suggest you to u...
