All 'p' models with 7200 RPM generate a lot of heat due to HDD speed. Yes I know, but the HDD is on the right side of the laptop, have nothing to do with the GPU/GPU temps. I ordered http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/jm/img?s=MLM&f=10604462_2774.jpg ARCTIC CLEAN 60ML , arrives on Monday I was won...

Advice on CPU/GPU Temps
My T42p received a Long Fan, after I detected that the cause of freezing when playing was because it was manufactured with the short fan! Anyways, I'm using Thinkpad T43 Fan Control V.018 I guess that piece of software should read temperatures correctly for the T42p. The GPU reaches more than 80C an...

Today I just received my laptop with the long fan installed, hopefully it won't overheat again :? Should I open my machine and apply Arctic Silver 5 to reduce the GPU temp (which apparently seems to rise above 90° C degress even with the new fan) Also, I've tried the Omega drivers with no previous v...

On my T42 (2373-4WU), the fan is constantly on with a pulsating, throbbing noise. Is this a BIOS problem or a fan problem? Has IBM or Lenovo done anything to fix this issue? If not, Can folks here give me some ideas on how to deal with this problem? Thanks I`m having the same problem with the throb...

My GPU temp before changing the short fan for the long fan: http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/1723/t42jf8.jpg I noticed that GPU temp jumps to 88C at least when I play NFS Most Wanted for 25sec, then switch back to the T43 Fan Control and it shows 88C in the GPU. Surely I need to change the fan, beca...

you really need the long fan. you should not run the short fan, it will fry the gpu if you do. You mean absolutely fry it (to become unusable) or that will cause the freeze. I'm tempted to open my machine to see if I've the short fan, but since there's only 2 days ahead for the fan replacement unde...

How to monitor CPU / GPU Temps??
I'd like to troubleshoot my T42p because is freezing when I start playing a graphic intensive game (like NFS Most Wanted)
Apparently my machine has the Short fan which do not cool down the GPU.
Could somebody help me out to find if the temperatures of the GPU rise too high?
