I won a Thinkpad A22m. It has eCS 1.2 on it but with the donors licence on it. Does one have to install eCS 1.2 again to overwrite the licence or can one just buy the licence and only overwrite that file? :?:

Did you win the license too? In that case, maybe SSI is able to transfer the license to your name.

If the donor kept the license, the copy of eCS on your machine might be considered illegal... however, is the license key really on the disk? If not, then it should be sufficient to hold the same number of licenses (on paper) as the number of eCS installations.

Licence not won

The licence belonged to the previous owner. It was not won. I am thinking of installing eCS 1.1 and using my own licence number. I will either buy the upgrade for eCS 1.2 or wait till eCS 2.0 comes out. I just got it to charge; the power plug would not connect properly. A permament solution would be to solder a piece to the port. I used very small wire in the power adapter to make a connection.
