I bought one with my model T61 in 2008 when it was new, and just recently bought 10 of the chinese knockoffs (keep in mind the original was chinese too) since I have many T61 units in the family now and I figured I'm going to need them as soon as cheap and reliable SSD drives are available. They look comparable, but I haven't done any extensive testing other then to slap a drive in and copy some files, but the price was great (less then $4 each) and they work. Naturally shipping from China was more then $4 each, but still cost less then $10 each in the end.

I've had trouble with aftermarket adapters for t60 SATA drives. I think it's due to the internal connection being PATA/IDE and electronics are needed to make a SATA-PATA bridge. Due to problems, I'm going to stick with Lenovo versions only for SATA drive adapters.

For PATA drives, any old cheap Ebay adapter has worked fine in T4x and T6x drive bays. Simpler by nature, I figue and just a pin to pin adapter, I'm guessing.

Hey, Steve I too needed a genuine SATA adapater for a T60 and I just snagged one on ebay for $10. Unfortunately the seller only had two of the adapters but only ONE had the UL approved sticker which is the hallmark of a genuine IBM SATA adapter. That's the one that I got. He has another one still listed but w/o the UL approved sticker so it could be a knockoff. No guarantees.

Here is that auction and the price is for $10 bucks.

There is another guy on ebay who appears to have a couple of genuine T60 SATA adapters. I was watching them but since I don't need them anymore you might be interested.

Here is that auction url. The price for these is $41 each.

Of course there is a 3rd ebay auction for genuine T60 SATA adapters but this one is for $96

I have NOTHING to do with any of these auctions. I'm just trying to help a forum memebr out in their quest.

BTW, the same seller that I got my adapter from also has a genuine Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III for the R, T, W, & X lines on ebay for $45 so if anyone wants in on that action.

Hi,

I've got an adapter I can sell you. Honestly, I don't know how to tell if it's the genuine item or not (I bought it off of eBay), but had no trouble with it in my old T60, nor in my Advanced Dock (which I also don't need anymore...). It comes in an IBM box with product guide. Let me know if you're interested...
