WTB: T60/61/400 etc. AC adapters!

#1 Post by CoolRunnings » Thu Nov 17, 2011 2:12 am

I'm looking to buy 5-10 genuine Thinkpad 20v 90watt AC adapters. I bought a bunch on eBay for some laptops 6 months ago but all I can find in the < $14.00 shipped range is the knock-offs. Anyone have a batch they want to sell? I'm paying $14.00 each shipped. Thanks!

those don't sound genuine...
"Manufacturer:
Top AC Adapter"
plus the title says "replacement". and they are 65W.

if you don't mind bidding, i'd do this:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... lenovo+90w
sort by lowest priced and try to get as many as you need.
here's one shipped for ~$10: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LENOVO-LAPTOP-A ... 500wt_1156
W500 - T9600 | FireGL V5700 | 8GB DDR3 | Momentus XT 500GB | WUXGA | 7 Ult
X200 Tablet, Surface Pro 128GB w/ Touch Cover

... if you're still searching, then how about these or these? (found when searching for "lot Lenovo AC adapter" on eBay.com... there may be more and better offers; this just a hint!).

well I suppose if you read all of the fine print (I didn't but I did see they were only 65W), it's actually hard to tell what they are selling, as their pictures are pretty much the real deal.

Good thread though for potential leads on these AC Adapters, because I am always on the lookout for these as well (it seems)!

Good prices, but you actually have to be very careful!!! Both these links show pictures of adapters with the 3-prong power cord (a.k.a. Mickey Mouse connector). In the U.S., the 2-prong is typically included with new ThinkPads. It's just somethng else to watch out for. Caveat Emptor.

My eBay search preference (with sorting lowest first) is --> (IBM, ThinkPad, Lenovo) (90w, 65w, 20v) -generic -car -jack
You can add the word "lot" if you're looking for several.

wouldn't -car possibly exclude the 90W slim adapters? one i purchased for myself i managed to get pretty cheap, brand new (under $15 with shipping in the original lenovo box).

Yes, specifically so. However, if you're interested in those, then don't use that restriction. The slim adapters are pretty nice if you want home/auto and multi-tip USB charging flexibility.

I suspect these are chinese versions with american cords added, but does it really matter? the american ones came from china too didn't they?

I guess it's possible they are knock-offs, I almost bought a "genuine" lenovo battery for my new w510, and realized it was a carefully made forgery, a generic battery labled as Lenovo, but these adapters look genuine to me.

Yes, they may very well be genuine, however, the three prong cords are bulkier, often more rigid, and require a three prong receptacle, it's just not what current ThinkPad owners are used to.

After looking at the ebay auction again, I see that seller doesn't specifically state these are lenovo parts, and the pics look like stock images, perhaps even three different chargers. The title of the auction says...

AC adapter charger "for" ibm lenovo

One photos has ibm logo, one has lenovo, and one looks like a typical usa model, but only shows the label.

I have some of the 3prong chargers I bought a couple years ago, some countries require them by law and most of the generic USA ac cords with 3prongs are bulky, so that is an issue.

Edit, I just wrote to the ebay seller to ask if these were genuine lenovo, and 2 or 3 prong. Here is his reply...
hi,it is replacement,3 prong ,not 2 prong ,thanks.
