Western Digital Mybook World Edition II

Two disc NAS server, gigabit ethernet with RAID


I have a couple of these I've been using as a bittorrent servers and they work great. Unfortunately one of my drives died and I've been planning on installing two new 2TB drives in it, but in my travels I came across a Qnap NAS and I'm going to be using it to replace this unit, so I'm offering this to forum members.

There is a big following of users that enjoy hacking these devices and there are many community developed firmwares available. You can do some pretty cool things with them, such as running bittorrent clients, using them as webservers, and all kinds of other things. I was looking forward to diving deep into this, but have decided I just don't have the time, so here it is. I can't let the harddrives go with it, but I will provide all the hardware to mount them, as well as the device and it's power supply.

It's currently configured for two 500GB WD cav green drives, but there is an entire wiki page on hacking them and you can configure them to use any drives with some tweaking.

The enclosure holds two internal drives and has expansion via usb. You can also use them as a print server, and it wouldn't surprise me if someone figured out a way to get one to make your coffee for you in the morning... lol

My asking price is $50 obo

buyer pays shipping (actual cost), but I will offer flat domestic shipping of $10 to simplify things.

Trades are welcome on this item, as is cash offers.

The two disc models are desireable because they have embedded RAID controllers and obviously can hold two drives.

As for trades, i could use some 2.5" harddrives, DDR2 sodimms in 2 and 4GB, or a dead T61/T61p (full screen) to be used for educational purposes to help the community (photos).

Anything else of similar value would be considered.

I have several of these in good used condition and would be willing to trade for anything of similar value that I can use. My primary interest is in T61 models, but I have more of these then I need so lets talk if you want one or two of these.

T61p complete lid assembly WSXGA+ (1680x1050) A++ condition (like new)


Pulled from a like new unit, this perfect screen would be a great replacement or upgrade for any T61/T61p series.

You couldn't ask for a nicer screen, and I'll offer it to any forum member for a reasonable $99 with domestic (usa) shipping of $12 fully insured.

edit: I have some of these lid assemblies that have perfect screens, but with minor cosmetic issues such as sticker residue on the top cover and/or worn hinges. I'm offering them at substantial discount, PM if interested.

Intel Core2 duo cpu T7100, 1.8ghz Only $5 plus shipping!!!


These make nice upgrades for some low-end celeron or pentium laptops. One major dept store was selling HP refurbished notbooks for $169 with celeron chips, a friend of mine bought a dozen of them and installed these chips in them and the result was a very usable computer complete with win7.

They will also make a nice upgrade for some thinkpads with T5xxx series with 800mhz fsb.

I think I have 4-5 of them left if anyone is interested.
