T61/T60p FrankenPad Kit 15" IPS FlexView Ex. cond $150
T61/T60p FrankenPad Kit 15" IPS FlexView Ex. cond $150
This is a kit to convert your 4:3 aspect ratio T61/T61p to a 15" IPS Flexview.
All parts are in excellent to like new condition including the SXGA 15" screen that looks great, bright with no pressure marks, colors look bright. The parts won't be pulled and shipped until sold, so I can provide photos of screen condition before it's shipped. The plastics are all in perfect, or near perfect condition, it looks like this unit wasn't used much at all. Harddrive/optical drive, battery and AC adapter aren't included nor needed as they will transfer from your T61, but if you need any of these parts we can work out a deal.
There are a couple very well prepared guides in making these, some minor modifications will need to be done to the frame to accommodate the T61 system board, and I may decide to make another myself, but thought I'd see if anyone here has an interest in this.
This is basically the ultimate screen upgrade for a T61 (non-widescreen)
I respectfully offer these parts all fully tested and carefully packaged for $150 plus cost of shipping. $20 should get them to any of the 48 states (usa), worldwide shipping is available but would be higher.

TuuS:
Interesting offer... which should hopefully appeal to anyone who would like to have a superb 15" 4:3 FlexView/IPS LCD in a T60 frame, ready to put in a T61 (14.1" non-widescreen) motherboard.... to end up with an Ultimate ThinkPad as discussed e.g. in the thread Parts for the ultimate 15” T60 UXGA FlexView w/T61(p) mobo? (the LCD in this Ultimate Dream-laptop can of course be SXGA+ as well as UXGA, if preferred).
Just to make it completely clear (at least to me, and perhaps to other readers as well?): The items that you are offering here; isn't that basically a complete, MINT condition 15" 4:3 SXGA+ FlexView/IPS T60, except that the T60 motherboard (and the WLAN mini-PCI + the modem), and except that the harddrive/optical drive, battery and AC adapter all aren't included? If this is correct, then I assume that the keyboard is included (NMB? ALPS? Chicony? US-layout?) - but does this "T60" have a fingerprint reader or not? Also, is the T60 fan included? (for those not familiar with the T60 parts, see e.g. System service parts - ThinkPad T60, T60p (w/4:3 formal LCD's)).
Good luck with the sale!

Re: T61/T60p FrankenPad Kit 15" IPS FlexView Ex. cond $150
Hi Johan, You're correct, and it will be complete except for the systemboard. I will include all hardware like the fan assembly, and all wiring, the systemboard/cpu/ram will be transferred from the donor T61 system, so isn't included. As for which keyboard it has, I haven't opened it up, but it's in great condition and is a T60p model.
It is currently a complete unit, and I can include other parts that someone might need, perhaps a dvd burner, harddrive caddy, ac adapter... (let me know your needs and I'll try to make them affordable) but the kit as offered I believe is all the parts you'll need to transform your 4:3 ratio 14.1" T61 into a 15" with IPS flexview.
The SXGA screen looks great, but if someone wanted to install a new UXGA screen, I could offer the kit without the LCD, or with a near perfect LCD for less cost.

Just a heads up, as i see no mention of it: Don't forget to also include the interposer card from the old T60 board. It will be very needed for final assembly of the T61 board into the T60 chassis. Other than that, a nice kit.TuuS wrote: and it will be complete except for the systemboard. Yes, please. I'm looking for a kit. I don't need a display (but I wouldn't necessarily turn down a nice one).

I'm the one who bought the kit from TuuS.
I hate to say it but I am not unhappy with the purchase.
It took a while for the kit to arrive to Russia, and it took even more time for me to actually start putting the parts together. The packaging was perfect - all screws accurately sorted and put in separate envelopes, tons of bubble wrap, cardboard separators between base and lid... but the parts were not perfect at all. The corners of the lid were rubbed off, the frame had a crack, the keyboard was full of cat hair (I've got three cats and I know how that looks)... I didn't want to write about it, but today I hooked up the screen to see how good it is. Unfortunately, the screen has numerous minor defects (a big dark dot, several tiny ones, tiny dark lines, etc... the screen looks like a very dirty photo matrix - enlarged. No idea how come there's so much dust under the screen. Yes, I do know how to clean a computer screen.
We did exchange several PM's and TuuS said he would never send me a cracked frame and this must have taken place in transit. The thing is, the packaging was really perfect, and crack is exactly where you would expect it to be in a used T60 frame - on the left side. The frame was inside of the plastic base of the computer - this is definitely an overlooked crack, not something that could happen in transit. Then the guy said, 'well, how much do you think this set of parts should cost?' and I didn't know what to say... I bought a Kit, not some "parts", and this kit left me $200 short and with no hope to make a frankenpad for quite a bit of time.
I have already ordered a new frame, bought a new lid, a new used keyboard ("in grade A+++ condition" - the package on the way, I am yet to see what's inside), with time, I will definitely buy a new screen. But the thought that I have paid $150 + $20 (US shipping) + $60 for shipping to Russia for a set of screws, bubble wrap, an interposer card, and a used set of T61 internal speakers and a modem card is going to bug me for a while now.
...
I will never buy anything from TuuS and obviously I won't recommend that seller, but, having read numerous stories about how great that seller is, I don't understand how could that happened... Am I too picky? I'm 41 and I keep buying used stuff all the time, be it bike stuff, computer stuff or tourist stuff, and I thought I know what's "excellent to like new condition" to "used with rubbed off corners and screen artifacts"... Beats the sh.t out of me...

As I told you in a PM, I'd gladly refund you fully if you weren't 100% satisfied. If the frame arrived cracked, it should have been inspected and returned immediately, not repackaged and shipped to russia, then notified several weeks later.
As a seller, I deserve to be notified of a problem upon shipment, not weeks later and you've completely dismissed the possibility that this damage could have happened in transit when you shipped it. My initial shipment was insured for damage and there was no cracks or damage, you got a Perfect flexview screen and the rest of the parts were in excellent condition in my opinion, if you didn't agree, I'd gladly offer a refund.
I even tried to offer you a partial refund since you weren't interested in returning the parts. From my perspective, I wish I would have sold them to someone who wasn't so difficult to deal with, and there is no need to make this a public debate.
Since you've declined a full refund, or a partial refund, what would it take to make you happy??? I fear nothing...

hello all..
this sure looks like one of those disputes for which no one will ever be happy..
from reading the various posts and a PM from the buyer it looks to ME like a deal is a deal..
why..? you might well ask..
well, when someone buys a part or group of parts and asks for a middleman to receive those parts and then trans-ship them to russia the buyer (who is in control) can not come back against the seller months after the transaction is closed..
the initial insurance on the first leg of the shipping is over.. the middleman, whoever he was, should have notified the seller of any problems and if no notice was given then the parts are now deemed to have been delivered in good order..
IF the buyer wants a refund he MUST return the parts, in good order and in full BEFORE any refund can be had.. period..
and this would ONLY be if the seller were to agree, which he had done but which had been refused by the buyer..
and it ALL must be done within 30 days..
