Tasurinchi, if you want one really bad, I can give you a contact in Florida (friend of mine), who could arrange shipping to Europe. Assuming RBS ships them to FL that is :)

Thanks Raceboy! But it's not that bad! In worst case I can pull up my T42p with UXGA resolution, but it's an old panel and is getting dimmer. Actually I wanted to wish RBS good luck with the sale. That's (nowadays) a rare panel indeed...

Anyone knows if it's possible ( and what else needs to be replaced ) to fit into a 15" R60 XGA?

There are two FL states, one is Fürstentum Liechtenstein (Principality of Lie...), which borders on Switzerland.
The other FL is Florida, which is part of the US, and to which I would ship.
The funny part is (alas not for Tasurinchi), that I got these LCDs from Switzerland in the first place!

The LCD will fit, but you will probably need the T60 LCD cable (same cable for XGA/SXGA+/UXGA, but there's one with and one without BlueTooth) but you would definitely need the T60 15" SXGA+/UXGA inverter 42T0079.
Only snag: you'll need a US address. :(

Actually, these panels will work in a 15" R60 with the original cable... :thumbs-UP:

Very tempting..

It is funny how parts can travel around the globe like that. For example, I do work for a chinese software company and when they wanted to replace their thinkpads, it was far cheaper for me to order them direct from Lenovo, get them shipped from china to usa, then rebox them and ship them back to china. Even with all that shipping it still saved them about 50% compared to buying them in China.

That is crazy. Geez I'm bummed thinking about all the wasted fuel used to re-transport the items. What's wrong with manufacturers?

New Old Stock.
Brand new units, that someone sat on a shelf and forgot about. Happens all the time in Auto Parts.

They didn't care about the warranty issues?

I think a unit in warranty can be serviced no matter where you are, but if you could save 50% off the lowest sale price you can find, you'd probably take it with or without a warranty. If you buy 100, 50 would have to die and you'd still break even, better then breaking even because you could salvage parts or sell them for parts.

Thomcat, the Chinese government has economic incentives to help companies with exported goods. The money exchange is artificial so for them to purchase a computer in China cost them over twice as much as it would cost me. I was also able to get employee pricing on them so I was getting them shipped to me for free from China, then shipping them back as used computers, which they legally were since I removed the OS and installed Chinese version. I do agree with you that it's crazy, but people in europe travel to the usa with empty suitcases and fill them up with clothing and travel back and the money saved pays for the trip, and virtually everything they buy came from China... so there is a lot of this going on.

They have superior views from almost every angle. The IPS makes colors stand out way better than TN screens can.
4:3 size LCDs are no longer produced, but preferred by lots of people (including myself).
Finding screens such as these 15" UXGA LCDs is rare and very hard.
Hence the interest.
I know one guy who bought 3 of these screens, one for immediate use, and two as spares for the future.
Puppy-love is nothing compared to that!

It is a very nice panel ever produced -- for Thinkpads.

The color reproduction and the brightness is awesome.
Even when it reached 3YR in 24/7 environment like mine, it's still showing good colors.

Good luck with the sale, it's a panel worth in a Thinkpad

Mine successfully arrived at my US destination. All I have to do now is drive over and get it! I may get another one but will wait a little longer to give someone else a chance to pick one up.

Dear RBS

I am keen to get both panels but dont have any suitable T60 or T61 Frankenpad unit to use it with - will any kind soul build two T61 Frankenpads for me to use with these remaining 2 panels - so I can ask RBS to send it to them ? I prefer a T61 board that can take 8GB RAM (to use with W7+ SSD) instead of a T60 board that can take only 3GB max.

As I am in Bangkok , whoever wil build these units for me needs to be in USA so RBS can send the panels to them, pls PM me if anyone has suitable excellent working T60/T61 parts for this purpose, thanks

Rgds
Ska
