Hi dear Thinpads lovers,

I hope i follow the guidelines by not putting a price, i'm more looking for an advice about which price seems correct. And of course I'm willing to trade in order to follow the guidelines :)

I have a Thinkpad Reserve Edition which i bought last year to be part of my growing Thinkpads collection (not growing anymore but that's another story). Everything but the leather casing is like new, because the seller send it to IBM France to change the case, palmrest, screen, keyboard and whatever could be changed. I don't know exactly if the internals were changed but it's running smoothly, and basically the internals are a Thinkpad X61s so no big deal here. Even the battery was new last year (only 2 cycles last time I checked). The 8 cell battery for the Reserve Edition is suposed to be different from a regular X61s 8 cell battery, i will check that. And the cool thing is that i have all the original packaging (which is white), manuals, external USB DVD drive and USB hard didk drive. The brown leather case which is attached to the top is not new, but not scratched. It's a little polished (i don't know the exact word in english sorry) but not too much. The bottom of the leather case is more used but no scratches too.

I live in France, so i'm more willing to trade/sell in Europe. And of course the keyboard is a french one but easy to replace by your favorite layout. Also it is the european version (TYPE 8748-33G) so there is no WWAN installed.

If someone is interested, just tell me. Do you think 850€ (1200 $US) is a fair price ?
If trading, you have to know that i'm looking for a T420s with nVidia (i7 would be great :) ).

Boris.

Wow, that's an awesome piece of history! This is the first one I've seen for sale ANYWHERE, and the fact that you have all the packaging should make it a must for any diehard collector!

It's well out of my price range, but if you could post some pictures up that would be awesome.

I will make some photos this weekend. Everybody has seen pictures of the machine 5 years ago, but the packaging is great and worth a shot.

All Reserve Editions are (slightly modified) ThinkPad X61s.

In some respects 1200 might be a fair price for such a machine, but I don't think you are going to find a buyer at that price. Recently one sold on ebay, I cant remember the exact price it went for, but it was significantly cheaper. Still its a rare machine and I'd almost pay money just to see some more photos of one :D

I was so happy when i finally got my Reserve Edition ! I promise to take pictures sooner or later, for the sake of the Thinkpad community. And because there are not so many pictures of it, and no pictures at all of the packaging and accessories. I don't think i will find a buyer, but it's a nice and classy machine i enjoy carrying to work sometimes, it looks like a leather old book. And i'm not looking for any Thinkpads right now, I just bought from Germany the T420s i7 + nVidia i was looking for (actually finding one at the price I was willing to pay was the longest part :)

So, pictures are coming sooner or later (will try this weekend, can't promise).
