I bought this laptop off of ebay thinking I could fix it and have a nice laptop, but I have had no such luck. Here are the specs on the laptop:

Admin edit: here are the original specs on this thinkpad..
PIII-M 1.0GHz (512KB), 128MB RAM, 30.0GB HDD, 15.0 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 8x-2.3x DVD, Modem (CDC), Ethernet (CDC), TV out, Li-Ion battery, Win98
end Admin edit

ThinkPad A30 2652-3BU
Pentium III 1.0 GHz
256 MB RAM
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI wireless adapter 802.11bg
Floppy Drive
DVD drive
Modem
Ethernet
HD and caddy (12 GB I think)

This laptop has video problems. I have posted a detailed description of the problems here:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=9308

Other that that, the laptop works great. The LCD bevel is loose on one side.

I still do not know what the problem is or why the video works fine with Linux. The laptop came with SUSE linux on it (which I have not deleted), but since I can't use Partition magic or any other DOS program (fdisk looks garbled as well), I can't repartition and install linux in a way I would like.
When Linux is running the screen looks great. I didn't notice any white spots, but I did not look that closely for them.

With this laptop I will include the AC adapter, Original LCD cable, and the inverter which came with the laptop. I can only assume that the LCD cable and inverter are fine since replacing them did not fix anything. I have no idea how long the battery holds a charge. I only used it with the AC adapter.

Anyway, I am asking $400 + shipping (about $25) for everything. I will answer all questions to the best of my ability. Thanks.

Since it seems no one is interested in this for $400, how about $350?
