Hi Y'all,

Am looking for an UltraLight screen for my X61S, new or excellent, like-new condition.

Thanks and good health, Weogo

Hi Weogo,

How are you doing? I hope you are in good spirits.

I ran across your post and I had a question. What is a UltraLight screen? Is it an IPS screen?

Thank you for your time and help,
John

it's a panel made by TMD that's slightly thinner and a couple ounces lighter than the standard panel, requiring a different LCD cover and bezel.   it's TN, not IPS, and has slightly worse contrast than the standard panel—albeit it's slightly brighter.   unless you already have the ultralight panel and need to replace it then don't go out of your way to get one.

Hi Erik,

Thanks for responding and clearing that up for me. I wonder TMD make a panel like that or that IBM/Lenovo would have in their machines.

Take care,
John

as a comparison, the TMD panel in the X300/X301 is very similar to the X60s/X61s ultralight in raw construction, barring the CCFL backlight in the ultralight instead of LED.   the two panels have similar color/contrast but the ultralight is slightly better.

TMD among BOE hydis, samsung, and LG all make panels for the X6 series but TMD had both standard and ultralight options.   the ultralight panel was a special request by lenovo and to my knowledge didn't end up in any other manufacturers' systems.
