Hello guys,
I'd like to have a working t42 machine that runs without any issue. I'm specially looking for the one with the fingerprint-reader and ThinkAdvantage hard drive shock protection. I will soon go to San Francisco area if you live there. Otherwise, i live in Denmark.

Thank you .
Tobi

Welcome to the forum!

Are you looking for a 14" or 15" unit? If the latter is what you need, I have one available, in excellent condition - feel free to PM me.

And yes, I do ship worldwide.

Hello Tobi,

I have a 14" T42, if that happens to be more to your liking, send me a PM and we can discuss the details.

Welcome to the forum, Tobi!

As you will see from my profile, I happen to live in Copenhagen like you... and moreover I am an avid and longtime T42-owner and -user, so I'd be happy to help you find what you're looking for. Since we both live in Copenhagen, it would perhaps be easier to discuss this on the phone, rather than here. Let me know if this is of interest...

A few things to keep in mind in relation to getting a T42: These exist as both 14.1" and 15" models, where the smaller is obviously more light-weight. While the smaller model only comes with XGA (1024x768) and SXGA+ (1400x1050) LCD's, the 15" model both comes with XGA, SXGA+ and UXGA (1600x1200). What's more important, the 15" SXGA+ and UXGA LCD's are of the so-called FlexView/IPS model, which are much better compared to the 14.1" (all non-FlexView/IPS) LCD's.

The LCD's are iluminated by a so-called CCFL (cold-cathode fluorescent lamp) which will however inevitably weaken over time (resulting in a more dull LCD, or a LCD having a reddish tint when the CCFL is approaching its death). Therefore, you'll certainly need to aware of the LCD (the CCFL) condition when buying "old" laptops, such as a T42. In the case of FlexView LCD's, these tend to become slightly "dusty" behind the LCD glass when getting old... and there's no way to cure this.

A Danish keyboard for 15" T42's? I have several as spare parts; let me know if you need one.

Have a look in the thread Would you say that a used T42P is reliable ? + Things To Check especially this post and the subsequent and also review the thread Concerning on buying a refurbished T42P for things to be aware of when buying used T42's.

Best regards,

Johan

Hi Tobi,

If you're willing to add one (+1) I will shortly have a 2687-DSU T43, 14-in screen, no defects and a dock, battery, CD/DVD charger cords and other good stuff like a drive bezel for making it lighter on the go. The machine has an upgraded 7200/ 90gig HD.

Perhaps my frequent flyer miles will help with convenient home delivery . . .
