the basics:
ThinkPad T43p (2668-VQ7)
Based on 2668-CTO:
P M 780(2.26GHz)
2GB RAM
80GB 7200rpm HD................now 160GB/7200rpm SATA
15in 1600x1200 LCD............please read below
128MB ATI FireGL V3200
CDRW/DVDRW
Wireless upgradeable.................now IBM (Atheros) b/g
Modem...................................now Bluetooth/Modem with proper clear plates
1Gb Ethernet
UltraNav
Secure chip
Fingerprint reader..............NONE
9c Li-Ion batt
WinXP Pro................COA intact
Modded BIOS
This T43p was heavily customized for my wife and was her desktop replacement for well over a year...if you are after an unusual T4x unit, maxed-out and perfectly capable of running W7 (32-bit obviously), this one should be on the very top of your list.
The machine started its life as one of the "assembled in the U.S. from U.S. and non-U.S. components for Lenovo" units, a top-shelf model to begin with. It was subsequently upgraded as listed above, and modded to take SATA hard drives - for those less familiar with the modification in question, please click on the link in my signature. Being that this was the first SATA-mod performed by now-well-established shop here in NEPA...
...the HD light is non-functional, as the original mod specsheet didn't include a solution to this problem.
Being that the lady in question *strongly* prefers SXGA+ over UXGA on a 15" LCD, the machine currently sports a very nice 1400x1050 FlexView pulled from a T42. While stunningly warm, crisp and bright, it does have one noticeable dust spec in the middle portion of the screen. I can re-install the original UXGA panel if so required.
On another note, the original M24 fan was replaced with a M10 pulled from a T42p. This fine ThinkPad is now exceptionally quiet by T43/p standards until pushed very hard.
As for the overall condition, expect normal wear and tear on the outside. There's a small piece of plastic chipped off from the base, but the frame is intact, and this is a cosmetic imperfection only. The keyboard and palmrest area are very clean.
If you absolutely must have a larger hard drive/SSD and/or a palmrest with fingerprint reader installed, talk to me and we'll figure something out...I can CTO this thing of beauty to any set of specs that the platform in question allows for...
Cash, personal cheque, USPS/Canada Post money order, Western Union or MoneyBookers accepted as payment method. No PreyPal.
NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:
As of May 16th, 2012 we are no longer allowed to ship batteries internationally, with or without the laptop. More on this USPS regulation can be found here:
