want a better cpu for 400 fsb T41 , > 1.7 GHz

My T41 still has some good life left.Last I had was a 1.7 Ghz cpu put with 1.5GB memory and a 160 GB HD.
I was thinking about getting a cpu 'upgrade' if somebody was trying to get a little ready cash.
400 fsb ...cpu's only...

I'm using a SL7EN 1.8 Dothan. Runs ok and was inexpensive. Next step up is SL7EM 2.0 and the cost for these almost triples. Not sure why. I didn't keep the original 1.6 Banias in long enough to make any real comparison between the two but overall I'm happy with performance, heat and battery life. I would go with the 1.8 and try and source a 1gb stick of ram to raise up to the 2gb limit of these machines. Try your best to keep costs down as these machines are getting older and quality spares are getting more costly. Hope this helps.

Pentium M 765 are expensive as hell but you could source a 755 at a decent (=reasonable) price at around €25. At least I have seen few of these for sale locally at that price.

RBS, when I was researching the upgrade for my T40 I remember some issue with the Dothans with the "A" suffix. Is my memory ok or failing? Thanks, Keith

I have the 1.8GHz, 2.0GHz, and 2.1GHz CPUs .. eBay for the 755 (2.0GHz) runs around $20 .. for the 765 (2.1GHz) around $65.
