(LOCKED) Want to buy: x60/x61, high-end, non-tablet

On my way back from a spectacular meal of chicken rice in Saigon's Chinatown, I left my beloved x60 in the back seat of a taxi. I am still imagining a group of Vietnamese taxi drivers trying to hack the Thinkpad administrator password. Those guys are smart; I wouldn't put it beyond them.

I want a replacement. I want it to be interesting and cool, either in terms of performance (2.0GHz or 2.4GHz) or in terms of battery life (x60s with extended battery). Must be good condition, no screen blemishes, no sticky keyboards. 3GB memory would be great, though of course I can add my own.

Must include HD, but I don't need an OS. I'll be running Ubuntu on it.

No tablets please.

Ship by USPS Priority Mail to my po box in zip code 96950 (that's domestic US mail).

I know Ebay well, but it's so much nicer dealing with someone from this forum.

Thanks to those who answered. Haven't bought anything yet.

Sorry I neglected to mention: I don't want WWAN, and I don't want any physical imperfections like cracks or nonworking buttons. My left-in-a-Saigon-taxi X60 was flawless.

Thanks!

I'd contact the taxi company and offer a reward. You might find the driver is happy to ship it to you for a lot less then it will cost you to replace it. He probably won't get much for it selling it anyway.

Good luck in your quest, where ever it takes you.

ps. Isn't it called Ho Chi Minh city now?

Hi TuuS, (warning to others: off topic discussion to follow)

Good thinking. I did have the hotel front desk call the taxi company and offer a $100 reward. Who knows; maybe the driver didn't realize that it's password locked, or maybe he just didn't hear the reward announcement on the radio. Or maybe the next passenger scooped it up, not the driver.

Saigon's official government name since 1977 (two years after the North Vietnamese tanks rolled in) is Ho Chi Minh City. However, local residents continue to call it Saigon -- just as Indians still call India India, not Hindustan, and Burmese still call Burma Burma, not Myanmar. And so on. In Saigon, the use of the word "Saigon" is casual and habitual, but sometimes done emphatically, to make a point about one's political and historic allegiances. And to make things more confusing, even the communist government continues to call a central tourist district "Saigon," while calling the rest of the city HCMC.

Back to something resembling the topic: if you ever need your Thinkpad repaired in Saigon, the best place (in my many experiences) is this: http://www.longbinh.com.vn/ (contact info on lower left of page. I have no affiliation with them, other than as a customer)
