Here is a clean Thinkpad x40 package, with OEM IBM 60 GB SSD
Nice little machine not getting much use with an x220 in the house.

Edited to add the following:
1. Ultrabase does not have a key.
2. The 8 cell battery (below) can't be used with the X4 Ultrabase; you need to remove the battery (or get a smaller one).
Lenovo apparently noted this and scooped out the back of the X6 Ultrabase to accommodate the larger battery.

Would you mind share a few more (specific!) details with us about this SSD? Me, for one, have never heard about this "famous" thing before!?! Is it a 1.8" PATA drive?

What is e.g. its IBM Part Number and what is its FRU, and what is its detailled specifications (made by what company, with what manufacturers original part number)?? Can you point us to a datasheet for this SSD? How much has it been used, is it fully OK, and if you believe so, how has/can this be verified?? Does it support TRIM under Windows 7? MLC or SLC SSD? Garbage management/wear-leveling built-in? What transfer speed is guaranteed? Etc. etc...

Also, since this is your very first post and you are therefore a brand new and totally unknown member, potential buyers might want to know something about you, such as selling references... eBay, heatware etc.

Concerning the SSD: If it is FRU 41W0736 in question, looks like Feebay has it New for $160 shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-IBM-Lenovo- ... 19d05e1074 and I guess it's possible to find that SSD for even less than $160.

Yes, this is in fact my first post here, although I have read this forum for awhile, and have appreciated what I've learned here.

To answer some questions:

To Thinkpad Lover: Thanks for the welcome. The one that you link is, in fact, the unit, and that's about what I paid for the drive. I'm not sure what references I could provide here. I have offered to sell the unit through my PayPal account. Should I list something else? I am open to suggestion.

To RealBlackStuff: Yep; that appears to be the drive, the same part number as is on mine. When I bought it a year so so ago, it sure didn't cost that much. Someone is offering a rare item there for a price much higher than anyone would pay. This happens on eBay and Amazon.com all the time. I am open to suggestion about pricing. Should I raise the price because they are selling the drive for that much? Is anyone anywhere selling a 60GB SSD for $545?

To Neil: The Win 7 is an enterprise disk provided by my university. I apologize if that is against forum guidelines, although when I read the guidelines I thought that this was legal. The computer originally had Windows XP installed, with the license number on the sticker on the bottom of the unit, and (if I can) would be glad to either a) attempt to re-install the licensed Windows XP, or b) erase the Win 7 and offer the machine as is without an OS.

To Johan: I thought that this IBM SSD was well-known in the Thinkpad world. It was offered by IBM as an upgrade to the original, and much-maligned, 5400 rpm, slowpoke, non-standard 1.8" size HDD. It supports Trim, and, in fact, when plugged into the Thinkpad it was immediately recognized. I have installed 4 SSD units in Thinkpads (the other 3 were Intel) and this was the easiest: the IBM laptop immediately recognized the IBM SSD. It has worked like a charm. I don't know enough to answer all your questions (and I don't know what "heatware" means) but this might help for details about the drive:

Yep; I'm new to Marketplace here. I hoped that my listing was transparent, including provisions for return, and a secure PayPal address. I certainly understand if someone wants a new guy to explain things further. I get the sense that I offered the x40 package for a price that is too low. I surveyed Thinkpads for sale here, and on the Notebook Review Forum, and thought that my package was reasonable, given what X6x, and x2xx units seem to go for. This is where I excavated in 1983, and where I will be helping run the 2012 games next month. The director, my retired professor and director of excavations, who lives in the village, has gladly accepted the offer, which I sent this morning, and I will hand-deliver it next month. My "references" there are pretty good.
Affordable working laptops aren't thick on the ground over there right now. In their perilous economy, with every single dollar (euro) needed coming from private donations, a two-room office with only an old desktop computer can put the X40, and its ultrabase, and its setup, to very good use. I have a feeling that it will seem like a much more fancy machine to them. Of course, as RealBlackStuff notes, they will need to scrape up $545 to replace that darned SSD if it crashes
