[Sold] HP laptop with huge 17" (1920x1200) IPS screen

This is the laptop that Lenovo should have made, but never did. It has the VERY rare 17" WUXGA, HP's version of Flexview which Lenovo hasn't offered since the T60, and never in anything larger then 15".

The good news doesn't end with the screen, it's also equipped with a Penryn System board and I can install the CPU of your choice. I'll start the sale off with a free T8100 Penryn CPU, but if you want a T8300 or T9300 I'll be glad to get one for you, and if you have a T9500 or X9000 I'll be glad to install that too.

Model number is 8710w mobile workstation that has the optional nVidia graphics installed on a separate card, not soldered on the systemboard like on a thinkpad, and for those who prefer ATI graphics it can be easily downgraded to ATI graphics.

The condition is great, showing only normal signs of use with some scratches on the top cover, and a flawless screen.

This beast of a machine came to me with 2gb of ram installed (easily upgraded) and without harddrive and ac adapter. I'll provide the Caddy and will install the drive of your choice, I'll also provide a 120w smart AC adapter ($90 value).

This is less then 1/3rd what I've seen some w700 units sell for and has a nicer screen, perfect for 1080p video. I never intended on selling this baby when I got it, but as chance would have it I ended up with two, so I'm respectfully offering it to forum members.

I know that because I only post once every other month or thereabouts that my personal opinion does not carry much water around here, but I would like to add that my girlfriend bought one of these machines on eBay at my urging to replace a quickly fading Acer (blegh) laptop. We both ended up liking it much more than we anticipated, enough that I am considering purchasing one for myself and selling off my R61. I have been a Thinkpad supporter ever since I first came across the A3x units, but Lenovo killing off the W7xx line, and the quality of HP's Workstation and their more recent Elitebook line has me second guessing what my next laptop purchase will be.

That being said, consider this my plug for this machine. If you are on the fence, I would take the plunge. It is a really nice laptop.

I can't agree more, these are the best that HP offers and the screens are much nicer then the thinkpad screens, and I'm probably one of the biggest thinkpad fans on the planet, but ever since I learned that HP had the "wide viewing angle" option in their high-end mobile workstations line For those on a budget I'm willing to throw in a basic harddrive along with the free penryn cpu so you'll get a complete system, and for those who want it custom built, I'll install any cpu and harddrive you like. In addition, for domestic buyers it will come with a good working battery. The battery will be considered as free, and since I don't have any others to replace it if it failed, the battery is strictly as-is, but it appears in great condition.

When I have time I'll take some photos of this unit, it's definitely a great deal at this price.
