Hi guys,

Our school recently received 15 HP towers from AFSOC which is awesome. But they have no operating system since they have been DOD wiped. Each has a Vista Business COA so I was wondering if anyone had a Vista Business CD for sale.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Yes, all you had to do was ask, I have them in 32 and 64bit, your COA will work on either. I also have some docking stations that I'd be willing to sell very cheap.

I'll send you a PM.

ps. If anyone else wants one they are listed in the forum, vista basic, business (professional) or Ultimate with COA starting at $20.

FYI-- It's my understanding that all Vista install discs contain all of the different flavors of Vista. You select the flavor you have a license for during the install.

Not entirely true. Some OEM discs will install whatever version your key matches, but there are separate discs for 32 and 64bit. Other OEM discs will install only one version. All oem upgrade discs that I've seen are version specific and all manufacture supplied oem discs are version specific as far as I know. Some retail discs have both 32 and 64bit versions on them, so there are a wide variety, but the discs I have will indeed install whichever version matches your license so they are ideal for restoring computers.

Since you already have the COA stickers, you don't need to buy anything. Download the ISO file for free, legally, as explained on this Dell website: http://en.community.dell.com/support-fo ... river.aspx

I did exactly this to install Vista Business 64bit on my HP dc7900 and Gateway NX860X and it was a breeze. BTW, I have become a huge fan of HP's premium Business desktop line. The dc7900 is nothing special (though still good), but my 8200 and 8300 Elite are OMG! The best-in-class professional looks, the quality, the expandability, and very reasonable prices. Now I want to collect 8000 and 8100 as well! What are the models of your 15 towers?

I don't know if you have used Vista much but assuming these towers are at least Core2 Duo have at least 2GB, Vista will run fabulously. Don't even think about downgrading to XP.

P.S. If you have Windows 7 COA stickers, you also don't need to buy anything. Just follow the instructions here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-fo ... river.aspx

No, but that doesn't matter because the sites I linked to above are for all brands, not just Dell. Those files are downloaded straight from Microsoft.

Your disc is in the mail, I hope it helps you in your classroom.

With 15 of the deskptops sitting in a corner now, that disc could potentially help hundreds of kids. People think that schools use a lot of technology, but most of it is used by the teacher. I'm trying to get more units in the hands of the kids to learn and create.

Every week I put together a Symbaloo Homepage with "tiles" that link to websites I want the kids to visit for learning gains. Doesn't hurt if they are also fun.

I assign Math homework off some of the websites so I am actually extending the classroom. I have kids putting in over an hour a week at home.

So thanks again, it really does make a difference.
