T2400 is Core Duo, not Core 2 Duo.

If the machine in question has that CPU it will not run a 64-bit version of any OS.

Do bear in mind that you have to provide the original installation media with COA for any Windows OS that the machine hasn't originally shipped with if you're offering it as a part of the deal...

What ajkula66 was saying was that you need to install whatever version the COA sticker (i.e. the sticker with the product key) is for. For example, if your HP has a COA sticker for XP, you need to install XP on this machine. If the buyer chooses 7, you are required by law to provide a COA sticker for 7. The COA sticker makes the installation legal.

I have a laptop listed on Craigslist and today someone emailed and asked whether I could install Microsoft Office on it. I could have done it to sell this laptop more quickly and for more money, but that would be illegal. So I wrote back and said she could download OpenOffice for free.
