GONE
Antique, collectable, historical artifact?

IBM Portable drive bay FRU 37L1513 WITH 24X CD drive FRU 27L3687, INCLUDING cable for insertion in the PCMCIA slot.

I have no idea of why I ever had this; it must have been useable five years ago.

It has a place for three AA batteries [not included] on the side of the case. There are several stickers; one says "10AB 01-SEP-00" and another that says "USED/TESTED PART. SOLD 'AS-IS' NO IBM WARRANTY 19K6160."

There is a user's manual and two old floppy disks with handwritten notes that they're drivers.

I am going to the e-waste/hazmat collection Saturday, October 6 when I return from Canada. If no one wants to claim it for the cost of mailing to any US ZIP Code [$5.50] by that time it goes with my other junk.

Faster to contact me by e-mail rringis@hotmail.com.

Here is some more info if anyone is interested:

I don't think I have any use for it or I would take it myself.

Does it look anything like what's in this link?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-UltraslimBa ... 564cbacc8c

And does it have the PCMCIA card attached to that cable?

Sounds intriguing to the junk collector (me) if it has the PC Card...

.. and if PC card is missing, I might have few of those. I'll go to my thinkpad ( big ) junk box and do some fishing.

Yes, the card is with the cable.

It does not look like the picture from cadillacmike because there is no stand to hold it vertical, but the case may be the same, I can't tell.

The link from Neil is spot on.

Shame. $5.50 isn't much for a IBM-branded bookend or paperweight, at least.

Yes - a shame but no one responded, so $5.50 must have been too much.

I think if you consolidated your items they would get more takers. You're very generous for giving these parts for free, but if there were several parts listed I (or another member) could get them all shipped in the same box, save a nice chunk of change and give you some extra $$$ at the same time. Combined shipping is the key to buying in a forum and the main reason I don't include shipping in my prices, after all there is no such thing as "free shipping"... that is a gimmick that vendors use as a promotion but I find it can be very annoying. If I was to sell a piece of plastic for $4 and shipping is $6 and you wanted to buy ten of them, would you prefer $10 with free shipping each ($100), or $4 each with $6 shipping ($46). Listing the actual cost avoids unnecessary negotiations and makes it easier on everyone (and their wallets). Basically there is no such thing as "free lunch", or "free shipping".

I think I got off topic here, but this part of yours isn't the first one I thought of buying if I could combine it and I think it's safe to say we'd all like to see you post an inventory. I'd even gladly let you keep some of the money that I wouldn't be paying to usps this way.

ps. Thank you for all the parts you've been sharing, you're truly an asset to our community.

I'm not a business; I don't have an inventory, just a spouse who thinks I ought to clean up my work room. I have lots of "stuff" collected from thirty years of tinkering. Your suggestion is probably a good idea, but I'm not equipped to combine items for shipping.
