The model is the 4240-4AU, the specs are:

i5-2520M(2.50GHz
4GB RAM
500GB 7200rpm HD
15.6in 1366x768 LCD
Intel HD Graphics
CDRW/DVDRW
Intel 802.11agn wireless
Bluetooth,Modem
1Gb Ethernet
UltraNav
Secure Chip
Fingerprint reader
Camera
6c Li-Ion
Win7 Pro 64

I bought this on Ebay but find the screen not up to the standard of my IPS T43, so before returning it and incurring shipping charges and 15% restocking fee, wanted to see if anybody here is interested. If I return it will cost $60 restocking and $40 shipping, prepared to sell it for what I paid for it minus $50, sort of split the cost. I think this is still a more than decent deal, must be done in the next five days or so. Includes US Shipping.

You can see the ad on Ebay here with pictures and full description, it is in top notch shape, a small scratch on the RAM cover:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0446640431

Will ship in original Lenovo box and an outer box.

I have this posted locally as well.

Thanks

Buy a FHD panel for 120 USD and replace it. Then you have a wonderful T520 with a wonderful FHD panel.

It's under warranty till April, 2016. Replacing the panel is going to void his warranty... There is another thread on this specific machine: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=106479.

Would the warranty be voided if I had the screen replaced at a Lenovo Service Center? I am about to depart for China and I have become all too familiar with the techs at the local warranty service depot.

The more I play on this machine the more I am impressed with the keyboard and the general sturdiness; it may be my best, cheapest option to have them do the transplant.

Yes.

You are not allowed to alter the original specs that are attached to the FRUs, CRUs only, and it makes no difference who the LCD swap would be performed by...

That being said, if I liked the machine well enough otherwise I'd replace the screen with the FHD one and keep the original panel just in case that the laptop ever needs to be sent in for warranty purposes...

Sorry to be beating this to death but if I replaced a memory chip or a hard drive with a non-OEM item that would also void it? If so, then I slipped under the radar as my T43 was serviced (in China) with a replacement hard drive. When serviced here by depot service, I was always asked to remove the drive before sending it in, so the domestic situation doesn't apply.

No, that wouldn't void it. You can check the hardware maintenance manual for your T520 and look for CRU's (Customer Replaceable Unit) vs. FRU's (Field Replaceable Unit) - you can replace the CRU items without voiding your warranty. Things like the battery, hard drive and RAM are CRU's. The LCD is an FRU - to be replaced by a certified technician only - not a customer. Hope that helps...
