All models of the 240 had 800x600 and Celeron CPUs. This particular unit is probably 2609-41U.
The 240, 240X, 240Z and iSeries 1124 are super cute, and they actually ran XP (up to SP2) quite well. I had three 240's (300MHz, 366MHz and 400MHz), one 240X (500MHz PIII), and one i1124 (500MHz PIII, 1024x768), and totally loved them.

Darn. XGA is about the lowest I can deal with, so I'm afraid that takes this out of the running for me. Pity. I've been meaning to try one of the 240 series some time.

I'm kind of tempted to get one of these to see if I can put a 1GHz PIII in it.

[edit]
Some 240Z and i1124 have XGA in 10.4", but they come in Japanese only, and only support 192M.

Only a few 240Z's had XGA; most had 800x600. I think all i1124's had XGA but am not sure because it's even rarer than the 240Z and so I can't find much info about it. The 240Z does have two advantages over the i1124, since it has an ethernet port built in, and its CPU goes up to 600MHz PIII (vs. 500MHz PIII). So a top-of-the-line 240Z is functionally more capable than the i1124, but the latter's gray/silver lid makes it a very unique Thinkpad, so I consider it a more interesting collector's item.
It's possible to disable the 64MB onboard RAM and put a low-density 256MB PC100 RAM into the expansion slot to get 256MB RAM. Alternatively, you can look for the extremely rare 192MB PC100 module that was sold only in Japan.
The Japanese keyboard of the 240Z and i1124 can be replaced with a U.S. keyboard from the 240/240X. That's exactly what i did and I sold my i1124 with the U.S. keyboard, so the original Japanese keyboard is still in my possession. I hated using that keyboard but have to say it looks quite pretty.
