FS - Four Dell Latitude D-430 laptops with tons of stuff

#1 Post by ceb » Tue Nov 06, 2012 12:47 pm

I've just migrated my family from our D-430's to x-230's so these have to go. The Lattitude line is Dell's Thinkpad equivalent and the D-430 is the small, light and solid model.

Here is a link to the technical specs. http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/latitude-d430/pd and a review
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4234

Three of the computers have the U7700 1.33 Core2Duo processor while one has the U7600 1.2 Core2Duo processor
All have 80Gb hard drives. There is a spare 30GB SSD that can go in any of the units
All have 2GB of memory and the usual WiFi. Two have BT
All have a mediabase that includes either a DVD burner or a CD burner/DVD player
There are Two standalone CD burners also included. Interestingly enough, they use a special port on the back of the back of the computer (that also doubles as a USB port) and the cable hides in the CD burner enclosure. You can remove the CD burner and replace it with the one included floppy drive (if you still have floppies that you haven't gotten around to copying.)

The units come with a couple of spare batteries (including the extended cap 9 cell) and a couple spare power supplies as well as the small travel charger.

All hard drives will be wiped but will include some Dell disks with Vista Business, Vista and one boxed XP. the CoAs are for Vista (like the included disks) The computers work very nicely with Win7 (they are running that now)

Condition - all are in very nice with the normal wear that you'd expect from a carefully used computer. All show minor marks on the housing and some of the labels on the bottom have worn off. The keyboards are slightly shiny is spots as are the trackpads but everything functions as intended. I've not noticed any dead pixels or other damage. I'll include a spare keyboard that I bought but never installed.

This is undoubtedly the best laptop I've ever owned and they've held up very well - I don't think that the x230's will fare as well..

This remains as one of the best roadwarrior laptops out there. With a minimal install of Win7, Office 2010, and an Antivirus program, this remains a quick little machine and is perfect for carrying around. I may just keep one of the Dells for just that purpose.

That said, the lot of 4 machines, plus the SSD, the media bases and all the other extras is for sale at a very reasonable $800 plus shipping. I'll be happy to provide photos as requested.

I'd be happy to sell the HDD separately but I wouldn't want to take a laptop apart to remove the BT.

Quite frankly, unless you have a specific need for BT, I'd really pass on the units that came with this vintage computer. There were different versions for XP and Vista and neither worked reliably. Feel free to PM me if you'd like the HDD.

Still for sale. I just found a second new keyboard that I'll include plus a case for one of the DVD burners.

I had one until very recently. A light, very capable machine (given it's age) with good build quality. The special port for use with the external cd/rw is a usb socket plus a power socket. The plug on the external cd/rw plugs into both simultaneously. But the usb port can be used on it's own. I also ran Win7 with no issues.
