FS: R50p (UXGA, IPS Screen)

#1 Post by emeraldgirl08 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 1:32 pm

I have a 15” Flexview R50p I wish to sell for $70 + $15 dollars USPS shipping. It is in very good condition. The lid is not immaculate, has several thin scratches, and a few small obvious aberrations on the lid- however they do not affect the functionality of the ThinkPad. The keyboard and area around the lid are in very good shape. All the keys are functional, no rubbed off characters, and the ThinkLight also works fine. No cracks or missing pieces on this ThinkPad.

Code: Select all

Model: 1832-22U
Processor: 1.7 Banias Pentium M
Screen: 1600 X 1200 IPS
Graphics Card: ATI Fire Mobility T2/T2e 128mb
RAM: 1gb
Hard Drive: 40 gb ($10 extra)
Optical Drive: DVD/CD-RW
Wireless: included (Internal; not too sure who the manufacturer is)
Battery: included but only runs ~20-30 mins
AC adapter: included
The screen is in good condition. I would say it just needs a good cleaning. It is not the brightest screen especially when compared to my T400 but it is bright enough to work with, IPS, and high screen resolution. I just came back from a sub shop around campus and took the R50p with me (its very first public outing!) and the screen was very manageable :)

My pictures capture some images of the R50p screen in operation (taken w/a Blackberry so sorry if not high res). The screen is a 1600 X 1200 resolution IPS screen. I am not sure who the manufacturer is of the screen. I have enclosed screenshots taken with Speccy while running W7 Professional SP1 on the ThinkPad.

The video card does run warm so the fan will turn on quite a bit. Perhaps due to its age it could use a new application of thermal compound. Maybe TPFC would help? I know folks on here can work some magic with ThinkPads :)

There is a 40 gb hard drive which I will wipe clean if you wish for me to include it ($10 extra). You will find at the bottom of the laptop an intact XP Professional code. With that code you are free to install XP legally.. Thought for sure all the digits were on the Windows XP Pro sticker but the last two or three digits of the sticker is torn off. I apologize and will now throw the hard drive in for free :)

I am sure someone here on the forum has a restore disk for this type of R50p or if you would rather install something else then you most certainly may well do so ;)

The laptop also has 1 gb of RAM. The battery is pretty much shot. It will run for ~30 mins or less. Spare batteries can be found on ebay for ~20 dollars. It does come with an AC charger.

If you are interested and wish for me to run a test then let me know. Only if you are interested! I love love the IPS technology but I already have a T400 and X200 which serve me well. I know there are members who might have a place for this R50p and give it a good home.

Edit:

Added important information about the XP Pro keycode sticker. To make the deal sweeter I will throw the 40gb hard drive in for free! I also took the R50p out for an informal test run. Wireless connected well enough with one of the many wifi spots around. Screen was still bright enough (thanks to the matte layer) to view webpages.

Would love to pick this up for a multimedia machine. Any chance you're looking for any items in partial trade? Parts for other machines, cell phone stuff, Vegas souvenirs? If no, will need to see if it's still around in a couple weeks when I have the spare cash. Shoot me a PM if there's anything you're looking for.
Cell phones are my specialty. Got questions? Ask away.
