I have failed (comp would not turn on, didn't show failed GPU symptoms) 14 wide T61 motherboard that is left over from a swap.

FRU 41W1489. Manufactured in 2007 or 2008.

Also I have failed backlight (otherwise no bad pixels) LCD from 14" SXGA+ T60p

1400x1050 14" Samsung panel

FRU 13N7058.

I can send you this anyhwere for the price of shipping (paypal accepted). Estimated shipping by Post (cheapest) is between 10-20 EUR (I can ask specifically at the post office for your location).

Let me know if you're interested, otherwise I'll recycle items.

Quick question to the forum gurus:

Could one swap this with a working 14'' LCD 1280x1024 on a T60 and drive the SXGA+ with the ATI X1300? Are backlights interchangeable? (I haven't messed up with screens so far, but I am happy to do so)

Utwig has quoted a difficult to resist postage price :D

There was only ever one 1280x1024 screen on a Thinkpad, I think it was the 770x, but it was also 13.3".
This would be a 5:4 ratio screen.
T60 only has 4:3 ratio screens in 14.1" and 15" as well as 15.4" widescreen models.
If you refer to a widescreen 1280x800, this will not fit on a T60, but the screen will work (provided it is not faulty).

But if you are talking about a 14.1" XGA (1024x768) in the T60 to replace it with that SXGA+ (1400x1050), yes that should work without problem, if you can fix the CCFL.
CCFLs are all the same within the 14.1" 4:3 screens (widescreen 14.1" are different!).

Also understand that the backlight bulb isn't designed to be replaced, it's an internal part of the LCD. Some screen manufactures are easier then others to open up to gain access to the bulb, but it's really easy to destroy a screen while replacing the bulb and it can be difficult to get a good fit without any undesirable results. If you've never done this before then I'd only start with a screen that you're willing to destroy, I'd hate to see you destroy a working screen in a futile attempt to fix one that is not working, but if you are successful I'm sure the satisfaction you feel will be well worth the efforts invested.

Good Luck

Sorry I got it all wrong with the resolutions, didn't have my coffee back then :) This is exactly what I meant, 4:3 XGA it is. Valuable info regarding the widescreen differentiation. I will dig up for those posts on CCFL then. Many thanks

Screen shipped, motherboard remains. I'll recycle it in couple of weeks.

Price for shipping from Slovenia (Europe) to England (not Europe :) ) was 9 EUR / 12 USD for air mail or 7 EUR / 9 USD standard letter.
